The next lot

“Look guys, “ Terrence called out, “The big ticket items to auctions are usually later on in the night, they tend to start small at the beginning.” Damien nodded silently in agreement. “So,” Terrence continued, “If we’re going to bid on something to find out what happens when we pay, we should probably do it earlier rather than later.”

The others murmured among themselves. So far the items have been under five minutes, but there was no telling how high the prices could get later on.

“We’ll also know what we’re getting into earlier, so we have more things we can bid on if we do this now,” Wyatt added. It seemed to be a unanimous decision among the table to go through with an early win.

“Ok, so, let’s bid on the next item!” Kat decided.

“Who’s going to do it?” Kayla asked, looking around the group.

Before they could determine a designated bidder, their attention was taken by the auctioneer who was announcing the next auction item.

“Our next lot, number K1293. A kiss from local celebrity, Ms. Debbie Harris! You may know Debbie from the evening news on 84.5 FM The Grind! Debbie, please come up here so all the fine bidders can see what they’re bidding for!”

Debbie walked up to the stage and waved at everyone. She was an attractive blonde, older than the group of friends, but not by much. She was glammed up for the occasion like everyone else in the room. Her hair was tied up in an updo and she wore a long sleeved blue evening gown that hugged her body, giving a good idea of her shapely figure underneath.

Everyone turned to Wyatt.

“Why me?” he complained.

“Well, I’m not taking the bullet,” Damien teased.

“And neither is Terrence!” Janette said, adamantly.

Wyatt looked at everyone, one by one, they looked at him expectantly. Finally, he sighed. “Alright! But I’m not going over five minutes!”
