Mini Boss

"So just to double check." Liz says as we open the doors and don't see any Minotaurs. I already sent them an invite to the party. Fortunately I can have a party of up to six, including me. "You guys went along the edges yesterday and discovered this floor is in a five by five grid correct?"

"Yes, and Eric found the secret room. But we didn't come across a safe zone or Mini Boss. Then there's also the Floor Boss, but that's in the center." Hino answers.

"'Kay so we have six more rooms with Minotaurs, one safe zone, one Mini Boss and one Floor Boss. But why are you sure there's a Mini Boss?"

"My powers let me know when I slay a Boss and reward me for slaying all of them. When we slew the first Mini Boss I got notified that we slew one of three optional bosses. Then the Floor Boss said we slew one of three Bosses." Liz nods and jumps excitedly.

"I can't wait to fight a Ruins Boss! She says and I laugh as I open the door to the next room. Is open the right term? I guess clear the darkness away from the door to the next room. I take out my horns, claws and boots beforehand. We see four Minotaurs inside. Liz runs ahead and stops. I try to run ahead of her but Myla stops me. Liz slams her staff into the ground. A moment later some roots shoot out of the ground and grabs the Minotaurs. Hino and Myla charge ahead and Luna and I follow. We split up and take a Minotaur each. I cut the head off of mine and am shocked by how easily it slid through.

I turn around as the roots disappear.

"See, I'm more than a pretty face." She says proudly and confidently. I smile and store the Crystal Hearts. We move to the next room on our left and the door behind us shuts.

"Liz, are you still wanting to fight a Ruins Boss?" I say right before we hear a loud screech from above us. I look up, just to see whatever it is land. It crashes in the center of the room and I use Observe on the figure through the smoke and dust.

"It's a Griffin." I say aloud before it spreads and beats its wings. It takes back off into the sky and beats away the dust cloud. "And it's weak to Lightning."

"That's good and all! But we can't fly. How are we supposed to fight the monster know as the Prince Of The Sky!" Liz shouts and I smile. I cast Thunder on my blade before pulling out my wings.

"I'll try to take out its wings! Be ready!" I shout before taking off. I see the Griffin look at me, surprised I can fly. However its shock quickly turns to anger. It flies straight at me and opens its beak to eat me. I fly at it and beat my wings right before I'd hit its beak. I go above it and cut its wing.

The Griffin roars, either in pain or rage, but doesn't fall. I look and see my cut wasn't deep enough.

"Damn, I really should practice flying more." I say to myself as it charges me again. This time it seems to know I plan on knocking it out of the sky. I say this because I see it has a green ball of, what I assume to be wind, above its head. So instead I dive under and take off one of its front eagle talons.

It shrieks again and hits me along my back with its other talon.

I spin around and cut it off as well.

It shrieks and falls to the ground. I quickly follow after it and cut it along its side one last time.

I smile and fly back right as the body hits the ground. I land and store the Crystal Heart away. I get hugged from behind and turn to see Luna.

"You're so cool Alpha!" She says as I turn myself and pet her.

"Alpha?" Myla asks walking up to us.

"It's what he is. My Alpha!" Luna answers and I sigh.

"When we meet I asked her to join me. But I had to prove myself first, and after I did I became her packs Alpha." I say explaining why she calls me this.

"Okay, sure. I'm positive you let her call you that because your nice and not kinky." Liz says sarcastically. Myla starts to scold her for using such words when Luna answers.

"No, he told me to call him by his name. But he hasn't corrected me since I started calling him this again."

"Well that's because... I assumed it makes you happy." I say and she smiles more. I feel Liz gaze at me and look up. "What is that?" I say while pointing up to the roof. There's a large stone pillar stuck sideways into the wall.

"I think it's a nest." Liz answers. "I can see the Griffins mana centered around it. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you, your mana leaves a trail that we Sensors can see. Almost like footprints."

"I'm going to go take a look." I say taking out my wings.
