More Awkward Talks

Myla stands up and walks over to me. She hugs me tightly.

"I'm sorry Eric. I didn't think that this would happen." She says and I tell her it's fine.

"I am sorry Eric. For what it matters. I didn't think you were close to Surging and pushed you to far." Kallen says.

"Don't worry. I'm fine now and Gaia explained what a Mana Surge is. Also sorry about your arm. How is it?" I ask and he raises it up. It's still covered in the dark grey burns.

"Not great. It doesn't hurt or anything but I can't use magic with it."

"What!?" I ask confused.

"Yep, let me show you." He creates a small light in his palm and it immediately flickers and goes out. "That was supposed to be one of my strongest attack spells. What magic did you use."

"That's what I'd like to know. It's not possible for anyone to create multiple Schools of Magic but you used another spell from another School I've never seen before." Liz says crossing her arms.

"Liz!" Myla starts to scold her but I stop her.

"It's fine and I didn't make this School of magic." I say and stop, really not wanting to explain all this to them yet.

"Do you know who did? No offense Eric and don't worry he did deserve it." Sugano says making Kallen grunt. "But it'd be bad if he stayed like this. So does the person who made it know how to reverse it." I start thinking of what to answer when I get an idea.

"Kallen, let me see your arm." I say standing up and walking over to him. He reaches his arm put and I take it. I take my horns back out and try something. I cast Gaia's Embrace and fill the room with a soft green light. The light causes the marks to resend a bit and I keep the light up for as long as I can. After nearly a full minute and almost all my mana I finally get the marks to disappear. "That's tiring." I say going back to my seat.

"What was that?" Liz asks.

"That was a spell Gaia taught me. It's called Gaia's Embrace. It rejuvenates and helps your mana regeneration so I though it might work."

"So what spell did you use on his arm earlier?" She asks again.

"You're not gonna let this go are you?" I ask and she shakes her head no.

"Well, Eric we will come back to this but do you know why you Surged?" Sugano asks me.

"Apparently I bottled up to many emotions. At least according to Gaia. But I'm fine now so don't worry." I say hoping they won't start asking more questions. Sugano smiles before continuing.

"Fine we wont ask any more questions. But I can't speak for Myla. This was the first time we managed to pull her off you." She says teasingly and Myla blushes before nodding.

"I will be asking about this." She says crossing her arms. Kagiyama coughs getting our attention.

"So Eric. Would you enter a new pact with us? It'll be that you won't join the Devils." He says.

"Why would I?" I ask him confused.

"Well, we don't know why the Devils are coming after you. But we think that if you showed up as the new Flame Devil and helped them with whatever it is then they'll welcome you as one of them. This is just to ease those concerns. Oh and it will kill you if you break it. But in return we'll vouch for you so people will know you can be trusted despite being the new Flame Devil. however it will still take time, our words will only cause others to give you a chance."

"W-would it help if I told you why they want me?" They nod and I start something I might regret. "So, remember when I said Gaia had sealed the Demon God? Well it wasn't Gaia. She just provided the mana." I take a deep breath before continuing.

"So who was it?" Sugano asks gently.

"It was my mother. They want me for my mana circuits so I can unseal their God. Also my father was there, they helped Gaia fight the Demon God." I say calmly trying to hide my nerves. If they heard them they didn't bother questioning it. They're too focused on the news I told them.

"Why were your parents helping her?" Kagiyama asks.

"I don't know all the details but Gaia and them used to be close friends."

"So your mother was a sealer? If so why did Gaia ask her to fight." Kallen asks me.

"No, my mother knew sealing magic but the magic that I used on your arm was from her. She was the creator of it and gave it to my gramps to give to me. My ability to use multiple Schools of magic comes from her." They all are stunned into silence at my announcement except for Myla who knew before hand.

"Why was your mom able to use multiple Schools of magic?" Hino asks me.

"Well that has to do with my final seal. She wasn't human. I can't say what she was because I don't know. Not even my gramps or Gaia knows. But whatever her well, race gave me in terms of skills or abilities are sealed away. If I break that seal and find out I'll let you know."

"Wait. What do you mean by if?" Liz asks.

"Well I only broke the seal containing my blood because Zeferons consciousness was in there. He called me to him trying to take my body. But my other seal hasn't done anything like that. So I'm not sure if it's worth trying to break. Like I do want to but the risks are too high for me to justify it."

"Eric." Kagiyama says. "Do you swear on Gaia's name that all this is true?"

"Yes, I swear it on her name. Why?" I ask and my hand glows a faint green color.

"Good." He says sighing in relief. "If you swear on the name of the Gaia while you're her Champion and lie then you're body would get consumed by pain."

"So... are we still entering a pact?" I ask.

"Yeah, it'll help put the rest of the guild at ease." Kallen says and Kagiyama nods. I sign the pact and we get our small medals.
