Hanging out at Home

The rest of the day is uneventful, so you go home and prepare to go work on your presentation.

When you walk into your apartment, you're greeted by a couple watching TV on the couch. They don't seem to notice your presence.

This doesn't surprise you. You met Fia during college, and you two became fast friends after that. She's the one who got you to move in with her and Clara after your girlfriend at the time kicked you out. Things have been colder because of your relationship with Clara, but with the app, you think, you can fix that. The love score does interest you, though.

"I've always wondered..." You think to yourself. "If I never got together with Daphne, and she never got together with Clara, would we have had a shot?"

You brush that question off and go onto Clara. Like Fia, she went to college with you, and you two were on decent terms for a while. But everything changed once you moved in. She was very snappy with you, always threatening to kick you out if anything went wrong, and making your time here very tense. That's one of many things you plan to rectify with your newfound power.

You sit down next to the two of them. "What are you guys watching, anyway?"

"Oh, joy. Max is here." Clara says as sarcastically as possible. "If you must know. We were just finishing catching up on old episodes of Love Island." She gets up to leave. "I'm going to our room, babe. Once you're down here, come up and we can have some fun." You might just be seeing things, but you think she looks right at you as she says it.

No time to dwell on that, it's time to make up with Fia. "Hey, I'm sorry if I've been a lousy roommate. Fighting with Clara, spending all my time at work, avoiding you guys, I've been the worst. I've been too focused on myself to realize how it's affected you guys, and I'm sorry." To top it all off, you hug Fia.

Fia is thrilled. "Max, where is all this coming from?"

You can't admit it's the app just yet, so you decide to tell an inexact truth. "Honestly? Someone new joined us at work today, and it just made me think about life. I can't hold on to petty grudges forever. So I'm trying to make a change."

"That's very mature of you, Max. And for our sake, I'll try to talk to Clara." She leaves to head to their bedroom. You check the scores.

You start to hear moans coming from a room nearby.

"Oh, so she's just thinking of me while she fucks her girlfriend. That's a pretty big confidence boost, but I don't want to listen to that. I'll head over to Scarlett's after a quick shower."
