App Update: Restricted Features

John took a deep breath as he entered his local phone shop, revelling in the cool breeze from the air conditioner as it chilled the sweat dampened areas of his undersized shirt, an off putting dark patch on the front caused by the pooling sweat at the top of his beer belly.

Seeing the cute brunette cashier was working today, he quickly checked his unkempt hair in the reflection from the stores glass windows and ran a hand over his scraggly beard, trying to smooth it out.

Fishing his wallet out of his pocket, he approached the desk, waving to the cashier as he approached

''How can I help you today?'' She asked with a peppy tone

''Uhh, I'm here to collect my phone, you guys had it in for a screen replacement'' John fished the little paper receipt out of his wallet, handing it over so the girl behind the counter could register the tracking number.

She nodded to him as he handed over the piece of paper, the brunette set it down in front of the store computer and quickly punched in the tracker.

''Got it, looks like it's all good to go'' She said, grabbing a pen and paper. Apparently taking note of another internal tracking number ''Just wait right here and I'll be back in five minutes''

John watched the slim girl quickly cross the room and disappear behind a staff only door, not even thinking to draw his eyes away from the cashier as he looked at the way her slim figure looked good even in the store's slightly loose green polo shirt and grey slacks.

Noticing her was still staring at the closed door, he quickly averted his gaze, not knowing where to look and finally letting his eyes settle on the countersunk ceiling light fittings that illuminated the store. Idly tapping out off tempo beat as his fingers drummed on top of the desk he was waiting at.

The sound of the staff door swinging open drew his attention back down from the ceiling as he turned to see the cute brunette smile and raise a small unmarked cardboard box in his direction, removing a sellotaped piece of paper before handing it to him.

''That'll be 49.95$. Cash or card?'' She asked, fingers already on the keyboard.

''Card'' He said, handing over the small piece of plastic and taking note of the cashiers name tag as she swiped it, starting to punch in details on the compute. Before handing his card back to him. The receipt printer buzzing to life as it produced a new piece of paper which she then handed to him.

''Uhh... Thanks, Melody'' He said, nervously failing his attempt at a charming smile.

''Thank you, sir. Have a great day. Thanks for shopping with us'' She responded, the standard corporate response sounding hollow and insincere even with the brunettes cute smile and big brown eyes.

''Be with you in a moment, sir'' She said, moving from behind the counter towards the back of the store where a man was examining the display of laptops.

Seeing the customer near the laptops was an additional blow to John's ego. He was the full tall dark and handsome, well built, clean cut dark hair and semi formal business clothes. John's shoulders slumping as he mentally compared himself to the man who the cute brunette was just as eagerly attending.

Phone in hand, he made his way back out of the shop and crossed the parking lot towards his car. Opening the door to let the heat out and setting the box down on the drivers seat as he put his credit card back in his wallet and tucked away the receipt, mentally taking note that the screen repair had cost almost half of what he'd originally paid for the phone itself.

With that done, he grabbed the box, and set himself down in the drivers seat, breaking the little seal sticker and opening the box to reveal his phone, with a perfect new shiny screen.

With a slight smile, he grabbed it out of the box and quickly booted it up, mentally chastising his own eagerness as ''No Sim'' appeared on the bottom of his lock screen. He held the phone with one hand as the other reached back for his wallet, chuckling as he saw an ''Downloading Update'' notification appear and frowning as the percentage counter started to tick upwards.

Not wanting his phone to have connected to a random public store network, or worse, a phising WiFi network, he quickly unlocked the screen, staring at his phone as he noticed WiFi was off, as it should have been, yet the update download was nearing 100%

''Oh, for fuck...'' He groaned as the update finished and his entire phone screen was covered by what appeared to be the image of a keyboard lit up in red. Only one available button remaining on screen.

Getting back out of his car, he tapped the button, shaking his head as the screen stayed white for a few seconds before bringing up a text file. Again, no buttons were available on the touchscreen to back out of this thing, and tapping the power button confirmed that it was locked off as well.

Grumbling to himself, he started to make his way back towards the store. Idly reading what the irritating piece of software had to say for itself.

John turned his head and scoffed at the ridiculousness of the apparent virus, which at this point he wasn't sure if it was some sort of scam, or what exactly was going on. Still, finding some amusement in what he was reading, he stopped on a bench outside the store, figuring he may as well get a laugh out of this before having to cause any trouble for that cute brunette and get a store manager to explain why their technicians had returned his phone with some weird ass virus.

So, he read on.

1-Persons or Objects can now only be selected within line of sight
2-Changes will also be limited to one word modifications of randomly generated sentences describing the selected target
