Syvis seemed unconvinced. It seems she thinks it's part of Agnes's plan to get her and me closer, and I don't blame her. Since I've known Agnes, she always has an ulterior motive for everything she does. Even for me, it's often hard to understand what she's planning. For example, I'm sure Agnes is worried about Mili, but it's also an excellent excuse to make Syvis and I spend time together.

"Syvis, do me this favor," Agnes continued, "At least I'd like you to examine her so you can give us your opinion."

"I'm willing to pay whatever it takes," I said, hoping she would accept.

Syvis, after thinking for a moment, sighed and finally spoke, "You've been asking too many favors lately." She said, looking at Agnes, "Well, where is the girl? I can't promise I can cure her, but I'll see what I can do."

"Thanks!" Agnes replied smiling, "Kase, take Syvis to see your sister and once you finish, come to report the results to me."

"S-Sure."

Syvis didn't seem happy about having to go with me, but she accompanied me to the carriage that would take us to the mansion anyway. Once inside, she sat on the opposite side of me, crossing her legs and looking out the window, trying to ignore me.

"I heard that Darx went on his first quest." I said, trying to break the silence.

Syvis looked out the window and looked at me with suspicious eyes, "You seem to be well informed of what Darx is up to."

Well, of course, I know. After all, I was the one who put the quest in his guild, and I asked for help from Gen to be able to measure the capabilities of his party. But there's no way I can tell her that.

Upon entering, I saw Syvis standing, and next to her was Mili, also standing. But more incredible was to see that Mili didn't have the tired and pale countenance she had had for a long time. She was smiling and with a healthy look like any other girl her age.

"Mili, a-are you feeling better?" I asked, still somewhat confused.

"Kase!" Mili said as she ran to hug me, "Syvis' treatment made me feel so much better! I can't remember the last time I felt this good."

"How?" I asked with an incredulous expression looking at Syvis.

"Mili has a rare disease. Her own mana is slowly poisoning her." Syvis reply.

Mili went through hundreds of healers and took all kinds of potions and remedies, and nothing worked. How is it possible that Syvis has achieved it in just a few hours?

"I don't understand," I said, still unable to believe what was happening.

"While I was in the dwarven territory many years ago, I read about a similar disease that existed many years ago and for which the people of [Zrephia] found a cure." Syvis continued, "Although it is impossible to recreate the remedy these days, I managed to make a similar treatment."

"I'm hungry," Mili said, "Let's go get something to eat."

I was still speechless but happy at the same time to see Mili in such good health. I don't remember the last time she had appetite or energy to get out of her bedroom.

"Syvis, you'll be joining us too, right!?" Mile asked her.

"I have things to do, I..."

Before Syvis could finish what she was saying, Mili pulled her by the arm towards the door, "Please! I assure you will not regret it. The food the chefs make in my brother's mansion is delicious."

"What should we do then?

"I can make the potion Mili requires, and she'll have to be drinking it every so often for a few years."

"Another thing is that it would be good if Mili learned how to use magic so she can spend her mana." Syvis continued.

"What do you mean? How would that help her?"

"Mili's mana for some reason damages her body, and the more that same mana builds inside her body, the effects increase, so spending that mana every day is like cleaning her mana to keep it from getting worse."

"The medicine I'm giving her will stop her mana from poisoning her. The effects are slow, but in a few years, Mili will be completely cured."

"I'm very busy, I don't have time for that." Syvis answered automatically.

Mili stood up and took Syvis's hand, "Please! I promise to be a good student! My brother will pay you whatever you want! Please tell me to help me become an adventurer, please!"

Syvis looked flustered, not knowing how to respond. "Money is not a problem, I really am very busy every day."

It seems that Syvis has a soft side for children. After a long attempt by Mili to convince Syvis, she finally managed to get Syvis to say that she would think about it. At the end of dinner, Syvis stood up, and after saying goodbye to Mili, she walked to the exit.

"Wait here, there's something I need to talk to Syvis about," I told Mili as I got up from my chair to catch up with Syvis.

I managed to catch up with Syvis in the hallway leading to the exit.

"Syvis, wait."

"Huh? What do you want?"

"I still haven't thanked you for what you did for Mili. I don't know how I could repay you."

"I'm surprised to know that a girl as sweet as Mili has blood ties with you."

"Auch, do you think so poorly of me?"

"I have my reasons."

Obviously, those reasons are Darx. How much would he have told her about me? I still don't understand why all women seem to be so attracted to him. I thought Syvis would leave me with an outstretched hand, but surprisingly, she returned my handshake.

"Just leave Darx out of your games," Syvis told me, looking at me menacingly, "As long as you behave, I'll keep helping Mili."
