Play “DUMB”

(Author’s note: in this instance the term Dumb means mute. Like blind deaf and dumb.)

Kelly opened her mouth to retort but suddenly had an idea. She pretended to use sign language to communicate. The chances that the officer knew ASL was slim but worth the shot.

“Oh. Do you still hear?” The cop tapped her own ears as she asked. The woman in blue realized quickly that Kelly couldn’t speak. “Umm I don’t know sign language but I can call in someone who does.

Kelly shook her head and pointed to the officers note pad and pen and mimed writting before opening her hands and hoping the woman would just hand them over.

“Oh, yeah that might be a little easier.” She handed the pad and pen over to Kelly who felt her heart skip a beat as the trick worked. She immediately began writting her escape plan down.

“Kelly Harmone is now immune to the laws of mankind. Any law enforcement official attempting to stop her will have the overwhelming urge to let her off with a warning and allow to proceed on her way.” Once she was finish she looked up at the officer hopefully and nervously, wondering if it would work.

A couple seconds went by before the officer put and hand on her hip and cocked her hips to the side as if thinking about something. “Well... Look, I’m going to let you off with a warning this time, you’re obviously in a hurry to get somewhere and it must be important if you were willing to run a red light...”

It worked. It actually worked. The way the officcer was standing suddenly gave Kelly an idea as well and began writing again.

“Officer Conners will be suddenly wish to invite Kelly Harmone to her house for drinks after deciding that Kelly looks sexually appealing.”

The officer suddenly looked Kelly over became somewhat fidgity. “So hey listen, once you’re done with whatever had you in such a hurry maybe you could swing by my place and explain a few things over some drinks?”
