“It happened so fast Dad that I just forgot to tell you about meeting someone!”

Then mom spoke up, bringing everything into perspective.

“Oh God Owen, what does this mean for us getting married?”

Without even turning to look at mom, “Nothing Mary, they should have checked with us before doing anything!"

“Oh that’s rich, did either of you check with us if it was alright to hook up? Or was it more convenient to forget you had offspring to take into account?”

Man, I knew that I overstepped the line with that one or if not what came out of my mouth proved that I didn’t just step I nuked everything!

And What about Mr. Webber, wasn’t it enough to take over my dad’s business? Did you want everything he had, especially my mom?”

“James Anthony Turner you apologize to Mr. Webber this instant!”

I Don’t know what hurt more, the look in mom’s eyes or the look on Lynn’s face. Both had the effect of making me feel an inch high and a total moron. Not even Mr. Webber turning away from us and walking out the door made me feel any better.

“My god Jim, how could you say that? You should be grateful that your mom found someone to share her life with!"

Lynn backed up a few steps away from me, as if she thought that my stupidity was catchable.
“Mrs. Turner, I think that you making dad happy enough to remarry after losing mom is fantastic, even if your son doesn’t!”

“Oh Lynn, I promise this wasn’t the way we were going to tell you both, but things have definitely changed in a big way that will affect all of us from now on!”

Lynn went over to mom and hugged her. “We’ll figure things out for everyone, as long as we talk to one another!”

Lynn turned her head to stare at me, giving me a silent hint to go talk to her father.
