How could she ever want someone like you?" With each venomous word, the distance between Sara and James grew wider, and the chains binding him grew heavier.

The dancing figures now morphed into other men, all vying for Sara's attention. Men who were stronger, more successful, and more charming than James. In the midst of it all was Craig, confidently holding Sara's gaze, a clear symbol of all the things James feared he was not.

The fear of losing Sara, the guilt over his drunken tendencies, and the weight of his perceived inadequacies were almost palpable. Onosk drew from these emotions, feeding on them, growing stronger and more formidable.
