Chapter 64 by Chip_Arranger Chip_Arranger

What's next?

Not Just a Summer Fling

As you and Summer left the arboretum/garden area, heading towards Amy's dorm, Summer took your hand. It was small, but it was something. Especially since Summer's love score was only 35. That was a lot fewer than Amy, but hey, she was her own unique person. Not everyone was points on a screen.

"Sorry," Summer said, letting go of your hand. "I don't know what came over me."

"No, it's fine," you said, finding her hand with yours and grabbing hold of it again. That brought out a smile in Summer, one filled with warmth instead of her joking demeanor.

Love Score: 40 (+5)

"So what exactly did Amy say about me?" Summer asked, curious.

You weren't exactly sure how much you should reveal, especially as you were about to meet up with Amy anyways, so you just gave her the highlights.

"Basically, all she said was that she saw how you were feeling, and there was just something about you that made her inclined to include you," you summarized.

"Interesting..." she said, digesting the information. "Something about me?"

"Yeah, I don't know what she meant by that either," you agreed. "I love her, but sometimes she's a little hard to interpret."

"Oooh, you LOVE her?" Summer said, teasing.

"I've been told I fall in love too quickly," you said. "But to be fair, so did she. Anyways, back to the topic at hand, Amy's okay with you, but are you okay with her?"

"I'm...I'm honestly not sure," her demeanor turned more serious. "I'd have to actually like experience it to find that out. I know that's not really the response you expected...or wanted for that matter...but I'd like to see where this goes."

"No, it's fine," you answered. "There's plenty of time to figure out if you want this."

It was about then that you reached Amy's dorm, so you shot her a message to let her know you were there. She showed up shortly and held the door open.

"Hey, come on in, you two!" she said cheerfully.

Amy led you and Summer up a flight of stairs and into her dorm room, which was a lot cleaner than yours with your clothes strewn all about. You made a mental note to clean that up before anyone came to your dorm. Her dorm room was similar to her bedroom in Tennessee, a lot of music-related stuff, although not as much as back home. You looked on her desk and saw a picture that the two of you took at prom and the big smile she had on her face in that moment. You smiled reflexively, thinking back to that day.

"Sorry, I don't have many places to sit in here," Amy apologized. "Someone can take my roommate's desk chair though, she'll be out until late tonight."

"Oh, is your roommate one of those party people?" Summer asked.

"Somewhat," Amy answered. "She parties almost constantly from Thursday to Sunday, but she spends her other evenings at the library doing her work. So at least she's partying responsibly, without letting her studies down."

"I wish I had a roommate like yours," Summer mused. "My roommate is like your average 1930's 'big idea person', she always has these dumb and dangerous ideas that she tries to get me to tag along to, and then gets upset when I don't feel like being pushed down the astronomy hill in a shopping cart, which was her recent idea."

"It does get a little lonely though," Amy adds. "At least your roommate is around, I rarely see mine."

"What about your room situation, Cody?" Summer asked.

"Well, I actually don't have a roommate," you explained. "He moved out a few days into the semester. Guess he couldn't handle my greatness."

"Can I slap him for that?" Summer asked, turning to Amy.

"Go ahead, he does that from time to time," Amy consented.

"Hey, wait a minute-!" you protested, but were cut off by a playful smack from Summer. "You're no fun."

"Anyways, to why I'm here," Summer changed the subject. "Cody mentioned that you said something about having some sort of unorthodox...I guess it's called polyamorous relationship."

Amy looked at you, but not with an upset or angry face, she just focused her attention on you for a split second while Summer paused, then she turned back to Summer.

"And then he and I got to talking, and I wouldn't be opposed to being in this relationship," she continued. "Far from it. I'm actually excited for this."

Amy's demeanor changed to one that was more relaxed, and Summer seemed relieved as well.

"Basically, I was just coming here to get your whole opinion on this," she explained. "To hear it straight from the horse's mouth."

"I mean, yeah, that's basically it," Amy responded. "I knew what you were feeling, because I felt it with Cody earlier, and I didn't want little ol' me to stand in the way of things. I'm totally open to sharing him, he's a great guy and I know for a fact that he'll have time for the two of us."

For a fact? Oh, right, the sleeping trait. That reminded you, you'd have to tell Summer about the app.

"And I trust you, Summer," she continued. "Even though I don't know you super well yet and haven't known you for a while, Cody seems to trust you, and I trust his judgment on that."

"Well, is there anything I should really expect that's out of the ordinary?" Summer asked.

"I mean, aside from me being here, not really," Amy answered. "Actually...there is one more thing. I doubt that you were thinking of this, but if you break his heart, then I will hunt you down. He seems serious about you, and I do too, so this can't be like a little fling or something like that."

"Oh, don't worry, it isn't," Summer asserted. "I really like him." She gave your hand a squeeze as she said that.

"We didn't mean to exclude you from the conversation, Cody," Amy turned her attention to you, grabbing your other hand. "What're you thinking?"

"I mean...you girls are more than any guy could ask for," you answered. "There's no way that I would turn down something like this. Of course I'm in!"

As you said that, Amy and Summer shared a look past you, and then each one of them gave you a kiss on the cheek. Summer had really come a long way today, but it seemed like she just had this all bottled up for awhile.

"You mentioned that you didn't have a roommate, right Cody?" Summer said after a few seconds.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, right, I don't," you answered, still a bit stunned from what just happened.

"Good to know..." Summer said, her voice trailing off, sounding like she was planning something. You had no idea what it was, though. "Anyways, I got some work to get done, I'll see you tomorrow for breakfast!"

And with that, she left the room, leaving you and Amy there.
