Chapter 13 by chief chief

Listen to her or go ahead and strike down this pest?

No mercy

At the abbey you were taught to be merciful and compassionate to all beings, even your enemies but you were also raised to fight daemons. The vile corrupter of people's souls, butcher of men and despoiler of women. Twice this accursed abomination has poisoned you, attempted to twist your mind into becoming its willing ****, the first time you spared it to find the sword but now you've run out of mercy for the imp.

"Sister, mercy is one of the Burning Rose's virtues. Don't allow hatred to cloud your mind." Glenda speaks, trying to spare the creature

In another time and another situation, those words might have convinced you to show mercy but now, when the taste of its foul seed permeates in your mouth, tainted your being and almost broke your vows, it is not enough.

"That thing **** me, Glenda. It is a foul abomination deserving of only destruction," you cry. Droplets of tear forming from the shame of what has happened to you. You shove her aside and swing your sword.

The imp tries to dodge the blow, flapping its wings to escape. But not only in name were you one of the best swordswoman at the abbey, you redirect the sword mid swing, slicing through the creature's head. Amazingly, an instant before the cut connects, the sword of St. Magdalena glows with bright light and burned with crimson flames as if drawing upon your hatred of the daemon

You pull back the sword and try not to gag at the smell of brimstone and rotten eggs that fills the room with imp's ****. No evidence of the imp's presence but a pile of ash where it once stood. The sword still glowing brilliantly, not a stain of blood tinting the blessed weapon though the fire is gone.

You give the sword a short inspection before sheathing it then turning your attention to Glenda. The elf lying on the ground, staring at you as if you were mad, sporting a nasty gash from where she hit the bed up frame with her temple.

Guilt builds within your being at the sight. You've acted too rash with her. You're the senior sister here, it is your duty to look after and protect her, not bring her to harm even unintentionally. You move to apologize and help her up but then a dark part of you mind, irrational anger reminds that Glenda was there when you were being desecrated. Snoring through the night while you were tainted. Doing nothing to help you.

What do you do ? Compassion or Anger ?
