Disclaimer: Due to creative differences between Ruki09 and myself, Ruki09 has decided to withdraw his character, Vira Salladard. Since she has already been used in Mia's flashback chapters, she will now be replaced with Merlara Phyre.

Description:

Merlara is a beautiful young woman with long blonde hair and golden eyes. She looks a lot like her elven mother, though her ears are round like her human father.

Biography:

164 years ago, there was a very skilled S rank mage named Gregory, who went on many adventures, saved many lives and became very famous. For his deeds, the king of Riledo at that time gave him the title of Baron, thus starting the Phyre dynasty.

Since Gregory Phyre was famous for his skill in fire magic, he decided to pass on all of his knowledge, title and the rest of his inheritance to his 2nd child, who was also gifted in fire magic. Since then, it has become tradition to the Phyre family that their heir must always be a fire mage.

With Merlara Phyre being the oldest child, she was expected to show an aptitude in fire magic, like her predecessors and inherit both the title and the family's wealth. But as the years passed, it became obvious that Merlara could not wield fire magic. Her father, a human fire mage, was quite disappointed in his daughter and stopped caring about her. Her mother, an elven noble, turned her back on Merlara as well and started doting on her other child. When Merlara’s little brother started showing great skill in the casting of fire spells, he not only received all of his parent's attention but also became the new heir.

With her parents no longer expecting her to take over the family, Merlara was now able to choose her own path in life, which she did. She left her home at the age of 16 and befriended a retired A rank adventurer who took care of her. It is from him that she learned about the adventurer life style and how to wield a sword. Once she became 19 years old, she reached the legal age to become an adventurer and so she went to Riledo and got her awakening. This is when she discovered she was a Spellsword and became an adventurer.

Once Merlara had become a capable adventurer, she returned to her parents. To show them how successful she had become, including showing them she can now cast fire spells with the help of runes. But both her parents, including her younger brother, mocked her as she needed the help of runes to cast fire magic. The only real magic she had was the element of darkness and that makes her clearly a failure as a member of the Phyre family. That was the day Merlara has decided her family was dead to her. She left them forever and has since refused the call herself a Phyre. She is just Merlara now.

Skills:

Skill 1: Thrill for combat – Merlara’s senses and reaction speed increases so he becomes capable of dodging, blocking and deflecting all incoming attacks.
Skill 2: Infuriate – Merlara causes 1 opponent to become so provoked that he attacks her in anger
Skill 3: Dauntless – Merlara is immune to fear (including fear spells)
Skill 4: Rune Master – With this skill, Merlara is capable at both charging runes with magical energy as well as activate them.

Magic: Dark

Spells:

Shroud – Merlara surrounds herself in a layer of darkness. When cast at night, makes her near invisible. When cast at daylight, it makes her look intimidating.
Fear – Merlara causes a target to become afraid for a short time
Migraine – caster curses the target with a severe headache
Guilt – caster causes target to become consumed by what he feels most guilty for

Equipment and Style

Merlara fights with a sword and heater shield and wears a combination of plate and scale armor.

Helmet: Merlara’s face and figure have a tendency of attracting attention from men. Usually, the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of men. To avoid this, she prefers to hide her face by wearing her helmet as much as possible.

Armor: In her years as an adventurer, Merlara has come to favor a specific set of black armor, however she felt it weighed her down too much. Thus, she traveled to the capital city of the dwarves. There she paid the dwarven crafters to enchant her armor and make it magically lighter.

Runic tattoos: In the early years that Merlara has been an Adventurer, she has had a lot of issues in properly using her [Rune Mastery] skill. Then one day, Merlara got the idea of tattooing the runes she uses most of all on her body. This way, she is always physically touching her runes and she can charge and cast them at any moment.
