Placing the third card side-by-side with the other two, you noticed how they how they had changed. The people at the academy were all women and the building itself had changed to reflect your latest card. No longer wearing a generic school uniform, the pair of girls now wore a flight suit more appropriate to the setting forming incrementally as you drew more cards.

"I see. Something interesting this time, half afraid this was just shaping up to you languishing and wasting another life. Hope you're not claustrophobic since you'll be locked inside a cockpit one way or another once you arrive. Any particular preferences for what you'll be going up against? Kaijuus, other mechas, alien invaders?"

Practically giddy at the prospect of clashing metal behemoths, the goddess almost jumped out of her seat. That it was at the very real danger to your own life, the chance of it being cut drastically short having risen significantly, put a damper on your own spirit as a knot formed in your stomach.

Looking at the card, it was like the previous ones. The mecha posed with its weapons outstretched and ready to unleash a barrage of destruction on whatever its foes would be. Squinting a little, you thought its head bore a resemblance to that of Gundams. It'd be a new universe, so you doubted it'd be actually be set in one of the timelines that made up the franchise. Still, you briefly wondered if you'd look good wearing red and a mask in your new form, like a certain Char Aznable.

Even if it was silly, it eased your anxiety a little. This was something you wanted deep down your heart, so all you could do was to try and enjoy it. Buoyed by that thought, you reached for another card.

Midway, you suddenly felt resistance. Hovering above the deck with your hand, you realised you could end it here. The world having settled enough for you to enter. Or you could refine it further by drawing another card and perhaps a final one after that.
