Meanwhile, Luna Presses On

Luna paced about the room, thinking up a storm.

The book lay open on her desk. Next to it sat a piece of white printer paper filled to the brim with notes and scribbles.

During the last hour, Luna poured through the tome, making a note of every spell that caught her eye. There were plenty of spells that still made her a little uncomfortable, but plenty more that excited her. All-in-all, Luna now had thirteen spells she wanted to try by the end of the night.

Most of these spells were low pressure spells like the aura spell. Small incantations meant for seeing what was otherwise unseen or affecting the outside world in subtle ways. However, two of the spells seemed a bit beefier.

One spell involved infusing energy of a specific type into a living organism to influence the physical and psychic properties of said organism. The spell was pretty vague, but Luna reasoned that she had plenty of test subjects with her worm farm. The idea of casting potentially dangerous spells on her little wormies gave her a little pause, but she reasoned that the binding spell hadn't hurt Frank. If anything, it had made the worm much healthier and more resilient now that he had a direct energy line to Luna herself.

The other spell was a remote viewing spell. In theory, this spell was as simple as the one for viewing auras, but the catch was that the other person might be able to look back through the connection and see the caster. Because the spell relied on a psychic link, Luna would be **** while casting it.

Luna struggled with where to begin. She had a list of spells, but each one was more enticing than the last. The two larger spells also slightly intimidated her.

There was another thing that bothered Luna's mind in addition to her stress over the spell work. If the aura spell had gone off successfully, why hadn't the summoning spell or the feminine lust spell worked? Both spells felt right. The same rising tension had filled the air followed by the same sudden pop at the end of the spell.

Perhaps there was something missing in those first incantations, but Luna doubted it. She spoke the words correctly (the book conveniently provided pronunciations) both times.

This opened up another frightening possibility: What if they had worked?

If this were true, it might mean an untamed demon was running loose on earth. Somehow more worrisome was the thought of the feminine lust spell. While she had tried to focus on Mrs. A while casting the spell, Luna remembered her consciousness constantly flipping back to Mary instead. Either option worried her now that she knew the magic was real.

"Okay, fine. I'll cast the remote viewing spell first. I doubt Mary would even know to look for me. She doesn't believe in any of this shit anyways. Then I'll do some easy spells and finish with the organism infusion spell. Easy Peasy."

Luna sat at her desk and picked up her makeup mirror as it would be required for the remote viewing. Focusing her energy inwards, Luna started chanting the words to the spell, feeling the energy in the room go haywire. That mounting thrill of casting was becoming irresistible. Luna finished the incantation and watched as the colors in the mirror swirled and dissolved, reshaping into the figure of her best friend.
