Chapter 14 by SweptUnderfoot SweptUnderfoot

How do you react?

Keep moving forwards

The well and flowers interest you, but you decide to move forwards with the hope that the door would open- perhaps the clicking was the key. You creep forwards, keeping to the shadows, and make your way down a very short hallway. The ground changes under your feet, as the natural dirt and grass give way to a cold, unforgiving metal sheet.

It opens up into a similarly unnatural room, small and perfectly cubed. Two identical doors stand on the opposite wall, solid metal with no way to see through them. The only difference is in their hinges- they each appear to open outwards from the center, rather than in the same direction. There's a mirror on the wall, the same height as you, and a table in the other corner, a singular wooden chair next to it. Above the table are various cabinets of shapes, sizes, and materials, from small wooden squares to large metal circles.

Just as you walk forwards into the room, still trying to stay in the shadows, something drips down and lands on your exposed shoulder. It's a bright green liquid, and starts to slowly slide down your shoulder, but it prompts you to finally look up, and you realize that your attempt at stealth was in vain. Perched up against the ceiling is the drider you were warned about, her eight long spider legs clinging to the wall and ceiling.

Do you react in time?
