Chapter 6 by TaleSpinner TaleSpinner

What happens next?

Jesse's family comes back

His older sister and mom came back from their mother daughter spa day, "Ah... bit too late to cook something, wanna order some Pizza or-" Jesse's sister Laura started to ask before she smelled something delightful and picked up the pace as she saw her nerdy little "finding himself before college" eating a fancy large thicc rare Wagyu steak with a side of some of the creamiest and fluffiest mashed potatoes on the side topped with a real thick gravy.

His Mom Carol asked "Um, Jesse? Where'd you get those from?" with the hidden question of How much of my money did you spend on that, and how is it THAT fresh? unasked

Jesse finished a bite and said "I learned magic in a pretty fantastical way. Want some?" He then read disbelief on his family's faces and then sighed "Summon Advanced Food" he chanted as two more steaks and mashed potatoes plopped onto the table with fine silverware. Jesse then felt his thirst and said "Summon Advanced Food" before three goblets of a "vintage" wine that he hoped would paired nicely with the steak appeared alongside the meals. This spell seemed to do more of the heavy lifting for the imagination than the regular one.

"Did you sell your soul?" Laura the girl who took magical theory as an elective asked

"No..."

"Then how did you get THAT powerful THAT quickly. All in what a day or two from when I last saw you?!?"

Jesse took a sip of his wine and said "Well a random old man who was probably some Arch Sorcerer or something gave me a weird staff which let me craft spells and cast them. Then I kinda made a macro to train my mana using a 1 mana point spell... Then I attached a Mana Vein to myself using more crafted magic and... Well here I am. Also the staff vanished on me, but I managed to keep most of the benefits."

Carol looked to her daughter who was the "magic expert" and her daughter said "I guess, that would work. Those mana veins do put out a LOT of mana in a wide area, but.... A spell to craft a spell like that is just... insane. Like what the heck is your mana pool looking like?"

Jesse said "Well... I did make a light spell that costs me about 1 point to cast for a minute." Carol nodded having an academic understanding of how much magic power that probably was "Well my full pool is 8E + 26"

Carol asked "Is that basic algebra, doesn't seem that large?"

Laura said "No, that's a number you get in clicker games thanks to... it's not like E is a standin for 2 or 10 or a 100. that's 10 to the power of 26." she did a quick google search "That's a hundred SEPTILLIONS, it's such a large number none of us here should be able to comprehend it... and I have to imagine that mana vein isn't even filling 1% of it."

Jesse nodded "At this point I'm not paying that much attention to my mana since I'm not putting much of a dent into it."

"Ah, it'd be nice if you were powerful enough to make me young again." Carol sighed and she sat and picked up her silverware

Jesse seemed to stare into space for a second and said "Ok... that got scary for a second, but I can do it... in a few ways actually." He then saw them staring at him and he said "So the first spell I had crafted ended up letting me control time of anything within a few meters of me, and the COST of THAT was a BIT TOO STEEP."

"Well least we know Time manipulation is something you barely have access to-" Laura heckled

"Anyways the create spell then got me two other ones. Alter Flesh and Alter Age. I figure the later one would probably do it."

Carol said "Ooo! I'd like to try that, somewhere in the mid twenties please if it's not a bother~"

"Not that much" Jesse said "Alter Age" he chanted towards his aging middle aged mother. He remembered asking once but he'd never gotten a straight answer. He put her down to maybe the mid forties early fifties? Thankfully this spell just had him select an age and then the person would move towards that age rapidly, and the years were melting off as crows feat, wrinkles, and sagginess that had been hard fought using science was being fought off more effectively with magic. Carol sighed in relief as her older somewhat raspy voice youthened to that of an energetic young lady. Excess pudge melted off as Carol one again became her perkier younger self who looked more like Laura's sister than mother. "Feeling ok mom?"

Carol held her clothes in place a bit as some parts were threatening to slip off her more slender frame "I'm feeling amazing~ I kinda want to go out and party a bit!"

"Refit Clothing" Jesse said on his newly crafted spell as his mom's clothes refit themselves to her new proportions about as well as they had done prior. "As much fun as that could be... I'm just thinking about what my next step in life's going to be."

Carol tried holding off her newly found youthful energy and said "Yes... that may be... important."

"And an understatement" Laura said "Sorcerers of your magnitude of power don't have stable jobs. Too many people asking for miracles, Most tend to either cloister themselves away or make city states in the wilds... and I'm not sure how cut out you are for that sort of life."

Jesse thought to himself "I could do a bit of regular guy by day, wizard in the middle of no where by night." He gazed at a long range teleport spell he made and... It was pricy "Perhaps a wizard who grabbed like 10 mana veins and put them on top of one another."

Spells created:
Seed Mana Vein: Mana Cost 1 billion, select target area and somewhere between a year and a decade a new mana vein will have fully ripened

Mana Vein fusion: Mana Cost fluctuates depending on distance and compatibility, select two Mana Veins and they will combine into a higher grade Mana Vein

"This is turning into a bit of a clicker game... Need to gather so many Veins and reseed them for probably ecological effects and then eventually I may be able to just use my mana to bend time and seed and harvest in seconds... or I can just get to a level of power I'm comfortable with." Jesse thought then he put words into his mouth "I think I may try... seeing about making something in the wilds, but have a teleport thing going on. So I'm able to do what I want out there and practice but still be able to come home regularly."

Carol having calmed down a bit asked "Are you sure that's safe honey?"

Jesse nodded "I already gave myself enough passive protections to... Assuming some other wizard isn't trying to harm me I should be fine. I should also be able to set up wards and everything to make the area I settle fine. For example I've got 10100 hp and can regenerate 1000 every second."

Carol looked to Laura who massaged her head "There is a theoretical idea of a hit point that is lumped in with Stamina, and that any time you would be hurt or overly stressed by near injury your hit points decrease. However that's a highly unscientific theory."

"My magic says it's a thing though." Jesse said

Laura sighed and said "I say we just let him go out and make something... worse comes to worse he'll just come crawling back. He can craft spells, has a massive amount of mana, and can just create stuff."

Carol looked uneasy but said "I guess, but feel free to come back anytime if your not feeling up to the task."

Jesse nodded as he started to get his plans under way for his wilderness development plan.
