Into the Forest

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the Bug catchers of Viridian Forest? Well, I do! They wait for a trainer to appear and attack like a swarm of Beedrills. They often do this with female trainers to wear them down and eventually defeat them. They also like to use the pothole trap, digging deep holes and once you fall they only help if you accept their challenge to a battle, and you may be asking yourself how do I know this, it's because I fell into one when I entered the deeper parts of the forest. The fucking bug catcher that checked his trap didn't even want to help me at first, but once I insulted his Bug Pokémon he was itching for a fight and then was properly roasted by Cinder and her fire attacks. Sadly, because of this experience, we had to be careful of other holes and our progress in the forest slowed to a crawl. Any holes we saw we triggered them and drove away and bug catcher nearby. Many holes were opened and we checked to see if anyone was inside. Thankfully, we haven't found anyone inside the holes yet, but I expect to find a person or even a Pokémon in one of these holes eventually, and like clockwork, the next hole we found had someone in it.

"Hello? Is anyone there? Please, help!" a feminine voice shouted. I pulled out the rope I had stored in my backpack for something like this. I tied one end of the rope to a tree and threw the rest to her.

"Don't worry, miss. I'm here to help. Grab the rope and I'll pull you up," I shouted to her.

"Thank you!" she shouted back grabbing the rope and pulling her up and out of the hole, "Thank you. I thought I was going to be stuck down there."

She got up and moved away from the hole, "Okay, let's battle," she said somewhat annoyingly.

"Woah, woah. We don't need to battle," I said.

"Yeah, but you helped me out, so I have to battle you," she replied.

"Do I look like a Bug Catcher to you?" I asked.

"No, but I've had to deal with tons of trainer battles right now because of them," she said.

"I know what you mean. I've grown to hate Bug Catchers. I'm Lucas by the way," I said.

"I'm Rosa, and I have to agree with you about that," Rosa said.

"How long were you down there Rosa?" I asked.

"I don't know. I lost track of time and if I ever see another Bug catcher or Pokémon I'm going to scream," she said with great annoyance.

"Believe me, I know the feeling. I've been having Cinder roast all the Bug Catchers we encounter," I said.

"Cinder?" she asked.

"My Charmander," I replied.

"Ah, lucky you for having a fire type to deal with them. Come on out," Rosa threw two balls out. From her two balls appears to be an exhausted Snivy and Starly.

"A Snivy and Starly? Those are rather unusual Pokémon to have in the Kanto region," I said.

"I'm not from the Kanto region. I'm actually from the Unova region," she said.

"Really? I've never been to Unova myself but my father has on business trips," I said.

"You should visit sometime. There's always something happening in the cities of Unova," she said.

"I might have to after I am done with my journey here," I said. I looked at her Pokémon, opened my bag, and pulled out some potions, "Here. This should help your Pokémon recover faster."

"Thank you," she said taking the potions, "You know, I would have thought I would be doing a reward thing right now with another guy."

"I'm not like most guys. The only time I ever did it as a reward with a female trainer was with my girlfriend, Amber, and we both wanted to do it honestly and I think it is just an excuse for us to do it." I said.

"That sounds nice. You must have cared about each other, but where is she right now?" Rosa asked.

"She's currently in Pewter City. With any luck when we get there she will be off to get the next badge," I said.

"We?" Rosa asked.

"Yeah, I figured I'd help you, get you a few new Pokémon, and train them up before we get to face off against Brock at the Pewter City gym," I said.

"You would help me? Just like that?" Rosa asked.

"Sure, why not especially with," I was saying before I interrupted.

"I CHALLENGE YOU TO A BATTLE!" A Bug Catcher shouted at us, but he regretted it. Rosa and I gave him a **** stare.

"The nerve of some people? Am I right?" I asked.

"No kidding. That idiot thought it was a good idea to mess with two pissed off trainers at the same time." Rosa asked.

"So, which type of Pokémon do you want to get in this forest?" I asked.

"Well, I heard that Brock uses Rock types, so I'm thinking of fighting or water type. I know my Snivy could take care of Brock by itself, but if Snivy can't I need something else," Rosa said.

"Well, we should be close to a river or lake in the forest. We're going to need to head off the road for that, and hopefully away from the other Bug Catchers." I suggested.
