Hell no!

"Why on earth would I do that?" Mark snapped.

He was right, it was a stupid idea. "I don't know, I just, uh, I'm sorry. I feel like I derailed this whole thing with my bad decision."

"That's right, you did." He sighed. "But come on, I've got to help you out here. Worst comes to worst, I'll just cheat on the test." She smiled tentatively. "I'm kinda wishing I had gone that route now."

With the air cleared, they sat down at the desk again. Mark noticed that Jen still sat next to him rather than across from him. He cleared his throat. "Ok, so let's get some basic facts straight. When did you take this pill?"

"This morning, right before I met you."

"And where did you get it?"

She can't believe she didn't think of that. "Joseph! That little shit!" She pulled out her phone and jabbed his name on the contact list. It went to voicemail, so she tried his house phone. On the tenth ring he picked up. He sounded groggy.

"What the fuck, Jennifer? I was sleeping."

"Oh fuck your sleep! What was in that pill you gave me?"

He paused. "Why, what happened? Didn't it work?"

"No, you stupid asshole! It didn't work! I'm blacking out or something, my clothes and hair keep changing!"

There was an even longer pause. She heard something break. "...oh shit."

Unbelievable. "Oh shit?"

"I think Grink got you, like the wrong pill or something. I think you took the wrong pill." He sounded worried. "It should wear off soon. Probably."

Jennifer gritted her teeth. "And what are the effects of this pill?"

"I don't know, Grink wasn't real specific. He said it changes people. Changes 'em in weird ways. Something to do with the people they're around, but I couldn't really follow what he was saying." Of course not. The little shit had smoked away so many of his brain cells he couldn't follow an infomercial.

"Joseph, listen to me. I need you to get me in touch with your friend. I need to know exactly was in that pill as soon as possible. If you do this for me and do it quickly, you may get out of this with your balls still attached." She hung up in disgust.

Mark was watching this whole exchange with an odd mixture of curiosity and concern. "I take it he wasn't very helpful?"

She sighed. "Of course not. All he said is it changes people and it has 'something to do with the people they're around.'"

Mark tried to reassure her. "Good, that's good. That's something. Now let's take stock of what we know."
