Head for the mountain pass

Between here and Gerlangen, there is a mountain range. It is quite a difficult place, with all the wild animals and bandits hiding out in caves and what else. But it is also the quickest and most direct route to Gerlangen. Going through the underground passage in Slurry might be safer, but it is out of the way and will take you an extra 2 days to reach your goal.
Certainly a paladin to the Burning Rose like yourself will be able to make it through the mountain pass unscathed. There is no reason to let your sisters at White Cliff abbey suffer longer because you were victimized by fear.

After about an hour of driving, you raise your arms above you and stretch. Lonely drives like this can sure be boring. You look left and right, Nothing but farmlands all the way, no people on there yet. Either they are working on different parts, or they haven’t gotten here yet.
From the corner of your eye, you seem to see something in the cart you’re driving. You turn around for a closer look. It is a coffin.
What the … That is Keyla’s coffin, but what is it doing here. You’re sure you had left that vampire in the village behind.

You get Aegis to stop and climb over to stand over Keyla’s coffin. No doubt about it, it’s Keyla’s. She must have used some magic to hide her presence.
You look up at the morning sun. You’re nearly blinded by her rays. A perfect time for getting rid of a filthy bloodsucker.
You put your hands on the coffin’s lid and make ready to pull it wide open. You brace yourself … and then just stand there. You try again, but once more you can’t pull it open.
What’s wrong with you, why can’t you just open it?
You stand up and raise the sword of saint Magdalene high above. You bring the sword down, towards the coffin and you veer off in mid-swing. The sword embeds itself into the cart’s wooden frame.
“Dammit.” You say in frustration.
Did Keyla make a prayer to the Winter Lotus to protect her coffin? You didn’t know the goddess of night and frost could do such a thing.
“If only I studied more about vampires.” You think to yourself as you sigh.

This isn’t good. You can’t reach Gerlangen in one day. Night will fall long before you get there. When that happens Keyla will wake up, thirsting for blood, and you’ll be the nearest human to her. You have to do something about that.
