He thinks it makes sense

Brandon looked down, a thoughtful look on his face. Shawn wasn’t the first one to tell him that, the majority of his teammates teased him all the time about how he was throwing away his days of glory because of Ashley, and of course, so did the girls who threw themselves at him after every good game.

He always refused them, imagining that Ashley became the love of his life and he would spend the rest of his life with her. Now he wasn’t so sure anymore. ”Shawn is right, she wouldn’t trade me for a possibility, she must have her eyes on someone, but who?” He asked himself, flashes of his ex-girlfriend laughing with Zack, Kurt, Peter and even Gavin passing through his mind. ”I’ve basically held myself back for nothing.”

”Well, maybe it’s better this way, Vicky isn’t taken yet.” Brandon recalled, deciding he was now free to pursue his original target.

He looked back at Shawn with an expression of determination on his face. “Alright, Shawn, I’ll buy it,” He said. “How can you help me with Vicky?”

Shawn grinned wickedly. ”He took the bait!” He took another step forward. “Well, Cole, from what I’ve seen of Victoria, she has to admire you first if you want a shot with her.”

Brandon raised an eyebrow. “But how the hell am I gonna do it?”

“That’s where I come in,” Shawn replied. “Listen, when you go back to the other cabin, you have to become Victoria’s shadow, wherever she goes, you go too. Then you wait for a moment when she’s completely alone to call me.”

“What for?”

“I’m gonna pretend I’m attacking her, so that you can come in, beat me and save her,” Shawn explained with an enthusiastic grin. “Trust me, she’ll worship the ground you walk on after that.”

Brandon stared at the older guy, wondering from where he pulled up that plan. “Ok, but there’s two problems. First, what about Zack and your brother?” He inquired, making a pause. “And second, what if Vicky decides to call the police?”

“I took care of Zack last night, hopefully it’ll still stand by the time you make your move. As for my brother, Kendra failed to do the same with him, so we’ll have to rely on his incompetence,” Shawn chuckled. “And relax, Vicky isn’t the type to involve the cops, she would feel guilty for sending her ex-boyfriend’s brother to jail.”

Brandon sighed. “Well, if you’re so sure.”

“Excellent, now let’s go back so you can start tailing Victoria.” Shawn clapped his hands once and turned around.

Brandon stared at Shawn’s retreating back for a couple of seconds before following him. As they were descending the steps that would lead them to the lake, the football player stopped.

“Wait a sec, what’s in it for you?” He asked the older guy, a worried look on his face.

Shawn grinned. “If you get Victoria, you’ll owe me one,” He replied with a smug expression. “Then, at a location and time of my choosing, you’ll lend her to me for a couple of hours.”

Brandon’s eyes almost bugged out of his head as Shawn turned around once again and resumed walking down the steps.
