Chapter 14 by TheSpectator TheSpectator

Return to the tavern?

Go back

You and Miranda talk the walk back. It was a little strange since all what you've both done is use each other for sexual pleasure or butt-heads over little disagreements. Truth to be told, you didn't have a whole lot in common. She was an interesting character though. So, despite the lack shared interests, you wanted to learn a bit more about her. You asked if she was going to be doing anything for the rest of the day. When she shook her head, you inquired if she'd like to spend the rest of the day hanging out. She blinked a few times and smiled. "Sure, I don't have anything else better to do."

A few thoughts entered and left your mind. If you recalled correctly (and you were pretty sure you did), then there was little ball happening in the village tonight. It seemed mostly for locals, but it didn't restrict anyone else from attending. Neither you or Miranda were natives of the current area, but you saw that there were going to be free drinks and food. You couldn't really dance and Miranda didn't really seem to be a party animal, but the idea of it kinda seemed like it'd be enjoyable. You bring this up to her. Surprisingly, she fancy's the idea of it.

"I attended the last, uh, ball the year before! The locals are a little weird, but it's nothing fancy. I had a good time before." Miranda smiled, recalling some events from before. "I didn't go alone though. I went with a co-worker. I'm sure you know her by now, it was with Delilah."

Right...Delilah!

You didn't really take her for the partying type either, but you guess that's why you shouldn't judge a person without really getting to know them. You both enter the tavern, it's fairly empty now. Behind the bar is Delilah, chatting with a co-worker with blonde locks and green eyes. You think that's Maple, but you don't really know for sure? She notices you and makes direct eye-contact, but doesn't say anything. Delilah smiles at you and waves as you walk forward. All three of you make basic exchanges before breaking into a light conversation.

The blonde girls tries to interject herself in the conversation, but fails to gain any real traction. You continue to banter for a bit until it starts to dwindle down. Miranda starts to talk about the ball to rekindle the subjects to talk about. Delilah perks up a bit and says that it was fun. She looks at you briefly and blushes before returning her gaze to Miranda.

Delilah awkwardly suggests that you all should go together. Miranda laughs a little as she gives it a thought. Now both of the girls are looking at you, silently asking you to make a decision. Miranda leans into the counter and Delilah. There's no doubt in your mind that you will be going to the ball, but you aren't exactly sure what the right approach would be...

You could go alone with Miranda and get to know her a bit better. She might be fun. That was the original plan anyway. Her purple eyes are impossible to read, you can't tell if she's trying to tell you let her come along or is starting to regret making that suggestion.

...Or you could allow Delilah to tag along. She's mentioned being a little bit of a light weight when it comes to drinking though, meaning you'd have to low-key babysit her to make sure didn't managed to get completely smashed.

Alone or both?
