Fun times

We finished the meal in silence. I wasn’t in a talking mood and my mom was giving my dad dirty looks. Fun times.

We finished the meal and got back into the car. I couldn’t take the silence much more but I was debating how to break the tension. I have some good ideas, but I wondered whether to be delicate or rip the band-aid off?

I had things I haven’t told them yet. It seemed to all matter now more than ever.

"I'm Gay" I said.

"Oh dear," My mom said. "I am so sorry you have to tell us like this." She sighed.

Dad was silent, eyes straight on the road.

"Listen," she said after a pause, "We really have been horrible to you. We have assumed a lot about our lifestyle and you understanding it without being fully and actively explained. I would like to start off the summer by opening us up for questions...isnt that right dear?" She said looking at my father.

"Yes dear," my Dad said with serious traces of sarcasm in it. "I am a open book."

There was alot I didn't understand about my parents sex life and I felt like even though I was given an open invite. I might as well use it before they clam up.
