Chapter 16 by Molybdenum Molybdenum

All the world in one bright district.

Follow the maids to paradise!

“Welcome to Maid Central, Master~ Every destination will lead you to cute girls who will do anything to give you a wonderful meal!”

Not hard to see why this place stayed the flame to countless weary, salaried moths, in spite of semi-annual pandemics. Not just archers; there weren’t enough of those on Autumn and what stocks existed were always in high demand. They rarely had to pay for companionship. Stamen were more common, and drawn with equal, ferocious intensity here. Sora would even consider them the primary demographic.

Even pistils and bowmen were not uncommon sights in the packed-in former apartment building’s lobby. Where they’d finally replaced the front desk girl; upgraded to a wide-hipped, light-blue-haired twintailed robot girl.

Vibrant hair aside, she was the very picture of a maid. Black and white uniform with puffy shoulder pads, an apron in front that deliberately failed to conceal the heft of her bust, and the frilly hair thing above. Elbow-length white gloves, and similarly long black socks attached with tantalizing garters that squeezed in on extra-thick thighs. Her skirt ruffled at just the right height to tease without revelation, and thus leave a wealth of long leg to be admired. Eyes could trail right down to the high heels, extra-high because she had perfect machine balance.

“Are we blessed with three first-time customers, or is it the first time we’ve met?” The greeter’s tone was sunny and full of energy. She leaned over her clipboard, double-checking with artificial icy-blue eyes that perfectly matched her hair.

Sora considered his reply for a moment, so Veronica picked up the slack. “You’ve probably seen this guy around somewhere before. Yes, guy. Promise.” The artificial succubus’s tone was similarly perfect for what you’d expect. Smooth, sultry, and teasing, as she strode up to the counter and leaned upon it. Revealing a tantalizing glimpse of her more humble but openly-displayed brown cleavage. “As for us, we’ve never been here before. So, I guess just put us down as three newbies, darling.”

“Understood, Mistress,” The greeter purred, matching in an instant the tone and intensity of this lust demon. “Might I have your names, or do I have to beg?~”

Veronica tapped her chin, and her little demonic tail wagged in appreciation. “Nah, we’re too hungry to bother with that, though I appreciate the offer. I’m Veronica, and here’s my number for later.”

While very in-character, Sora sincerely hoped that was a fake phone number Veronica wirelessly bounced over to the newly-sultry silicone servant. Normally that could be assumed, but given Ya Liao’s personality, there was at least a ten percent chance it really led to the stuff packed in between her ears.

“In the middle here is Sora, and that nerd shivering in the corner is Betty.”

“H-Hello,” Betty managed, face bright red as she tried to look anywhere but the immaculate robotic maid. Of course, that was tough, as the walls of the lobby were papered over with maids in various states of distress and undress.

Depending on the specific brand of the cafe, and as it turned out, there were many. Older layers of posters were plastered over, creating soil layers of cute maids. Some of the walls’ thickness was doubtless from this process repeating over and over.

“It’s so nice to meet you, Betty.” The hungry, lustful girl of a few moments ago was gone, and now the greeter’s tone was soft and gentle, she was addressing a frightened little animal. “I hope you have a wonderful meal. Every establishment here is extremely discrete and concerned with your privacy first and foremost.”

“T-Thank you…”

Amazing, even got the little tremor in her voice. Sora had never heard Hyun-ji Seong’s voice tremor in fear, not even when she was collapsing, injured, sucking his cock despite being a devout lesbian… none of that had done it. Here, she needed her voice to do something else, so it responded instantly.

The nerdy persona had good reason for distraction; despite all the branding, more than a few butler cafes were also available, though typically those were also staffed with handsome enough stamen. The few who could get a man did very well, though sadly Sora had never had the right vibe.

“Would you all care for membership cards? No charge upfront, of course.” There wasn’t a reason to refuse, especially since they could list whatever Veronica gave over as their number and not compromise operational security. “Excellent~ These will accumulate points from any of our various stores as you order things. Come back not just for discounts on orders, but eventually special prizes as well.”

What a wonderful offer that everyone took every seriously. Sora pulled open the catalog that had been beamed over to his own brain, and read the menu of options scrolling over the inside of his retinas.

He gravitated immediately towards three options, and consulted with the girls while his stomach rumbled.

The premier establishment was on the top floor, with a great view out the windows onto the lit-up plaza beyond. Though the view from inside was what drew most people, and most of the customers that ever frequented this building, up towards the Maidcorp Service Center. Now boasting, and the menu did so proudly, to run the first fully-automated maid cafe in world history. Nothing but robot girls as far as the eye could see, and given the wide, stable frames typically given them, the eye wouldn’t go far. There was no escape once you fell into their flawless service.

Other options presented themselves further down on the menu. One that stuck out as being opposite the above presentation was the old classic, the Fluffy Dream Mansion. One of the first establishments to be founded in Maid Central, they used to call it a part of the Big Three. Not so big now, but as their site proclaimed, they were the only all-organic maid cafe left in the building. Authenticity and genuine service by members of the Ten Tribes, real flesh and blood people all. Drawing pay, room, and board from the company, which reflected in the premium prices.

At the bottom of the menu, scrolling past more generic options, Sora spotted something a little strange. When underground movements sprung up, they didn’t tend to broadcast their location. Got to make the Feds work for it. Yet here, on digital paper, was Resistance Headquarters. Complete with skull symbols and reference to ancient punk rock in the advertisement. Which said to keep the location buried deep in the building’s basement, a secret from The Government.

It was really just a choice of which style maid one would prefer; flawless and professional, clumsy and earnest, or edgy and underground.

Obviously, the best kind of maid is...
