Flourish and Blotts

Gemma was quickly learning she had some misconceptions about the group she was currently hanging out with. Every year in school they always seemed so evil, but now they just seemed like regular teens.

On their way to the bookstore, there wasn't any talks about Voldemort, dark arts, or anything like that it was just regular teen stuff.

'Did you see that summer collection in Witch Weekly,' between Pansy and Millicent.

'Did you catch the quidditch match between Bulgaria and Japan,' Between the boys.

Gemma felt pretty dumb for assuming they were always scheming dark wizards and witches.

She knew that probably some of them schemed some of the time but right now they seemed like normal eighteen-year-olds just like they ones she was used to hanging out with.

"Oh Gemma, have you already been sorted or will you be sorted with the Firsties?" Blaise asked her focusing on her.

"N-no I was already sorted when I did my placement test," Gemma slowly said her cover story, "I'm in Slytherin house."

"Nice!" Draco quickly replied with a smile on his face, "We're all in Slytherin too."

"We would probably have still talked to you if you were in Ravenclaw but it's good that your in Slytherin," Pansy told her.

Gemma knew she had to stick to her character. She wasn't supposed to know anything about the other houses so she kept up the ruse.

"What's wrong with the other houses," Gemma asked trying to make herself looked confused.

"They just don't like us, even the professors, they never give any points to Slytherin, and they always are the first to give us detention," Theo quickly explained.

Gemma had wanted to say 'they don't like you because your parents all follow an evil wizard' but she kept that to herself. She had to seem sympathetic, and maybe they were kinda right thinking back on how they had all been talking earlier.

"That doesn't seem fair," She slowly responded to the group.

"It's not, and then you have all the other students always trying to mess with us," Millicent lamented.

"But now that you're one of us, we won't let any mess with you," Draco said looking right into her eyes.

"Yeah," Blaise quickly agreed looking at her too, "We'll keep you safe."

"We got your back," Theo quickly added from behind her.

"T-thanks..." Gemma slowly said suddenly feeling her cheeks go red.

They were definitely trying to hit on her.

She slowly looked away trying to find someway to change the topic when she saw they were getting close to their first stop, the bookstore known as Flourish and Blotts.

"T-There's the bookstore," Gemma said trying to move a little faster to get out of this situation.

The group of Slytherins entered the bookstore and all went to different areas while Gemma approached the front counter.

"Hello miss, how can I help you?" a young woman asked standing behind the counter.

"Ah yes, I just transferred to Hogwarts and I was trying to get all the books for my year," Gemma slowly told her.

She already knew where the books were but it wouldn't look good to the other members of her group if she did that so she had to play up the fact that she wasn't supposed to know where anything is.

"No problem! I can get them all for you and package them up, I just need to see your letter to know which ones you'll need!" the young woman quickly replied.

Gemma handed her the letter and watched as the small brunette waved her wand and one by the one the necessary books were on the counter.

"I'm sorry miss, but we seem to be out of Advanced Potion-Making by Libatius Borage. If you'd like we can send you a copy as soon as we get one in."

"Sure that would be nice thanks," Gemma replied thankful they could get the book to her, she just hoped it would be before he first class.

"Alright all I need is a name for that order and I'll finish your order." the young witch replied.

"Gemma Black."

"Alright Miss Black, your order comes out to 62 Galleons." the clerk witch replied.

Gemma quickly payed for her books and shrank them down so she wouldn't have to carry anything too heavy since she had to get all her supplies today.

Gemma looked around and saw her 'new friends' were all looking in different sections still, she thought now might be a good time to talk to one of them alone...
