Chapter 1439 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Dismantle the lair.

"I'll take her far away from here," Aris says, referring to her sister Nae as she holds her arms behind her back. "Then I'll meet back up with you once you've returned home."

You look to the etherites. "Thank you, Aris. You were invaluable during all of this. I don't know what I would have done without your help. I'll try to find some way to thank you."

"Aah, it's nothing," she replies bashfully. "Don't even worry about it. You already tested my Trial of the Erotrain, and that was the biggest help anyone could have given me. That, and you managed to make it through the whole thing. What guy could have done that? None, I'd say. Most would have probably lost before the second chamber."

"My ex wouldn't have even made it to the first," Nae mutters.

Your party scatters. Some are better at scavenging the halls, like Koblix, Stax, and Fang, and a few do remain in the main chamber with you, either to look it over, or because they're rather distracted by other things--namely Alice. She stands beside Allie, and together they look over the ALICE androids which decided to stick around. They still seem lost and confused, but many of them stormed out from the frustration that would cause.

You place your hand on Alice's shoulder. "You did good. Both of you did. They'll find their places in the world. It won't be easy, but--"

"And I'll help," Allie cuts you off. She steps towards them, though stops yet again. "If they want the help, anyway. I'll try to be a guide, even though I'm still figuring this out myself. Maybe that's for the best though."

"I wonder if the insectrin had someone like that," you say.

Taiga grumbles. "Let me go. I must help our king with his task."

Summer squeezes the girl with all her might. "But I don't want to ever let you go again," she says, rubbering her cheek up against the other's. "I just want to cover you in honey and eat you up."

"That's a weird thing to say!"

Through it all, you also manage to recover some of Elok's people. This will surely prove to be the strangest part of the task. You retrieve and bind Anastasia the cleric as well as Ariusia the mantis-girl, though Meti comes with you willingly. She seems quiet, however, and her previous allies don't seem to speak to her at all. When you're finally back in the main chamber with all three of them, that's when the djinn finally opens her lips to speak.

"I was betting my life on you succeeding," she explains. "If you had failed, I would have died."

You take hold of the bracelet she gave you earlier, and slip it off your hand. "Because of you, I was able to find him. Why did you help?"

She looks away shamefully. While her words come, they do so quietly and with hesitation. "It's a long story. I won't bore you with it now, but both Elok and Breiah saved my life. I dedicated myself to repaying the favour, but it led to become enslaved instead. He made sure I knew how valuable I would have been to kill. If I had done anything against them, not only would I have been slain, but anyone I ever knew as well. I know that doesn't invalidate my crimes. Whatever you wish to do with me next, I accept my fate. All that matters to me is that Elok is dead. But with Breiah still on the loose, I feel as if my life is already in danger."

You look briefly to the other two as she speaks. They seem a lot more upset about the whole thing. That being said, Elok and Breiah were incredible at manipulation. You're curious to talk with them later. They may not be as bad as they seem. You've seen people **** to follow others by magical means, threats, and more. "I'll take all three of you to the dungeons for now, but you won't spend the rest of your days there. It'll only be until I speak to you all further."

"Gold! Silver! Gems!" Stax dances behind you, throwing treasure up into the air and allowing it to rain painfully down over her body. She falls flat with a smile on her face. "Our treasury is gonna look fatter than ever, Kyle. That doesn't even account for all the raw materials. This guy has so much metal and stuff. Laira would know more about that, but I say we take everything that isn't bolted down. And if it's bolted down, we remove the bolts."

You turn to her with a thumbs-up. "Agreed."

Beyond her, you can see Rada Beela hesitantly approaching your main party of three, though of course specifically Eva. He runs his fingers down through his short beard, clearly nervous, but eventually opens his lips to talk.

Before he can, however, Eva notices, and she speaks first. "Dad. I know you want to say something all corny and sad, but listen. Yeah, I didn't like the life I had before. And yeah, you were never around when I wished you were because of the Circle and all that, which was pretty crappy considering I never knew my mother, and I only recently found out she was some kind of near-extinct species. But you know what? I've grown up a lot in my time with Kyle. I've seen you try and help, and I appreciate that. We can't ever change the past. Maybe that's what you're hoping will happen, or maybe not. I'm a different person now though, and well... I would like to spend some more time with you. Start fresh."

He's left completely speechless. Rada clears his throat, clearly masking a cry trying to **** its way through. "Eva. My beautiful daughter. You've grown to be such a powerful and mature woman."

"Mature might be stretching it a little," Niki mutters.

"What do you mean by that?!" Eva snaps back, grabbing the warrior by her arm.

Amara chuckles nervously. "Perhaps we should allow them this tender moment?"

"I don't really do tender moments," Niki says.

"So maybe you're the one who isn't mature," Eva teases.

Rada scratches his head awkwardly as he takes a step back. "We'll grab breakfast sometime soon," he says quietly through their bickering.

Fang runs in with her hand up in the air. "Oh, oh! I went through a character arc too."

You put your hands on your hips and chuckle. "Did you now?"

"That's right. I'm even hornier than before."

Candy Cane wheezes in the distance. It seems she heard that through the noise of the others speaking. "You and me both, sister!" she shouts from across the chamber.

Meti plays with her hair silently through it all before she finally speaks up during a brief moment of quiet. "You're all rather... carefree."

"This was a huge victory," you explain. "It's important to be, especially in a moment like this. But yeah, I mean we're not trying to take over the world. We don't enslave people, except for that one time we let Catherine the vampire be Dajy's toy for awhile. That was a whole thing. Anyway, don't worry about that. Let's get going already. People need rest, food, and healing. I can't ask Amara to go around and cast a healing spell on every single person here."

She looks at you through the entire thought with wide eyes and an overly polite smile. "But--"

"Amara. Do you really think you could handle all that?"

She nods quickly. "Y-Yes."

You shake your head. "Come on, everyone. Let's at least get back to Castle Phoenix before doing anything else."

What do you do?
