Chapter 9 by iReed iReed

What "Absolutely Correct" answer does Ruby give?

Compromise

Ruby felt uneasy. She understood that Weiss had very fair reasons but Ruby didn't want Blake to feel unwelcomed or ashamed of herself either. She was a Faunus and, sometimes, it meant having to treat her as an animal sometimes. That didn't mean that she wasn't a person, too. That being said, it would be really gross.

There had to be a way to make both girls happy. Wait, of course.

"Well... a team has to compromise sometimes. We should all calm down and find a mutually beneficial agreement."

The effect on the room at Ruby's '100% correct' answer was immediate.

Blake, who had been perfectly willing to drop the subject all together, for Weiss' benefit, suddenly calmed down and became determined to find a middle ground.

Likewise, Weiss, who had been so outraged and **** to have her way, was very open to talking the matter out with her team, calming down from her frustration.

"Fine," they said in unison.

"Great," said Ruby, pleased to know that she had made the right choice.

"First of all, Weiss' concerns are valid. A litter box may be messy. Plus, where would we put it where it wouldn't be in the way? On top of that, how would we explain it to guests? Blake, you're still hiding that fact that you're a Faunus from the rest of the school, right?"

Blake remained silent at Ruby's calm observation, knowing that she was right: Weiss' concerns were completely accurate.

"However, Weiss," said Ruby, addressing the heiress, "You also need to consider Blake's feelings, as well as the rest of ours. She's still a part of this team."

Weiss found herself nodding, completely accepting Ruby's words.

Continuing on: "If Faunus love acting like animals, that's okay. It's probably normal for Faunus. They can still be treated like animals and be accepted as people too."

Blake, for a moment, was about to tell Ruby not to speak for Faunus nor to paint them all with such a broad brush. That thought melted away, however, the second after Ruby stopped speaking.

Ruby didn't say anything that wasn't true, anyway. Not only did Faunus enjoy being treated like animals but they adored acting like them too. It was normal for the Faunus, in fact. It has been **** for Blake to 'act like a human' for so long, so as to keep up appearances, when all she wanted to do was bap balls of yarn, wash herself with her tongue, climb a tree and, if time allowed, take a much deserved catnap. Ruby was right, that didn't make her any less a person.

Weiss sighed, saying, "You're right, Ruby, and I'm sorry, Blake. I shouldn't have made you the bad guy for just wanting to be... you for a while. I never really considered how much you valued the time when we're in the privacy of the dorm room and you can drop the 'human' act. I'm sorry, if it seemed like I didn't accept you as part of the team."

Blake smiled at the heiress, "Aw. Thanks, Weiss. I'm sorry, if all the cat stuff has made you uncomfortable. I understand you may not be used to a person acting like that, but I appreciate what you've done for me so far. I also accept what you said about the litter box. It may not be the best idea right now. It would just make me feel more at-home, if I could go to the bathroom like a cat would, instead of those human toilets."

"Why don't you go outside?" said Ruby, gaining the attention of the team, "When we have Zwei around, we have to take him for walks down the park or the woods, so he could do his business there. Maybe you could do that?"

"Would that be appropriate?" questioned Weiss, skeptically.

Ruby, unfortunately, answered this question and morphed reality once again.

"Sure, I don't see why not."

And suddenly, neither did Weiss, nor Blake, nor Yang, nor anyone else in the world (save for a certain school bully).

"Y'know what? That sounds like a plan," said Weiss.

"Good," Blake said, relieved that she'll get to poop in the woods like a wild animal, instead of on a clean porcelain throne, "We'll just need to go when it's quiet, so no body sees, okay?"

"That's fine. We'll work out a schedule and a route at some point," said Weiss.

"Hoorah!" exclaimed Ruby.

Yang, who had been sitting on the fence, completely quiet, during the exchange, suddenly clapped wryly at her sister.

"Who knew you were so good at diplomacy, sis?"
