Community service and a fine

The first on the witness stand was Mr. Enzo. He explained that on the night of the festival, he and one of his wives were out spending time with each other, accompanied by one of their maids, until suddenly Noah charged at him with a knife. Had Mr. Enzo not noticed Noah and tried to defend himself, it would have been he who might have been killed.

The magistrate asked for Mr. Enzo’s wife to come to the witness stand next, but my mother informed him that the lady had refused to stand witness.

One by one people came, telling everyone what they saw about the incident that night.

Mia had to stand witness too, though she could only tell them what happened after the incident and how she helped prevent the situation from getting worse.

I had to stand witness just after Mia and basically told everyone the same as Mia did. However, I was also asked about my fight with Kase the day before. I felt it had nothing to do with Noah’s ****, but this was the perfect opportunity for me to put the last nail in the coffin for Kase’s reputation.

I explained to everyone that Fabe was picking a fight with Oliver and first I wanted to intervene, but Oliver told me he wanted to face Fabe by himself, so I honored his request. It is only after Oliver stopped getting up, when the fight was over, that I decided to **** Fabe to quit. I looked at the crowd and saw many people nodding in agreement. Even Oliver’s parents seemed to respect my decision.

Then I explained how Kase blocked me from stopping Fabe and how he percieved Fabe kicking Oliver when he’s down as ‘a fight between men’. That send a lot of disapproving murmurs around the crowd. I followed it up by saying that Kase even struck me first, which he did, and that when he was **** me, I heard him laugh.

All around, the crowd started booing Kase with accusations that both Kase and his Father were a bad influence on this village. I had thought Kase would feel embarrassed and humiliated. But that was not the case. Instead, Kase stared at me throughout my confession. He ignored the crowd completely and focused just on me. It made me feel like he was planning something and to be fair, it made me feel a bit scared.

When Kase came to stand witness, he suggested that I was trying it interfere with Oliver’s fight before Oliver went down and that I threw the first punch instead. Unfortunately for him, my mother, who also saw what happened although from a distance, was brought to stand witness next and told everyone she had clearly seen Oliver already on the ground before Kase and I started fighting. So, the magistrate declared Kase to have committed perjury.

Eventually James, Alice’s husband, came stand witness and cleared everything up. He had a difficult time getting there due to both his legs still healing from the bandit attack, hence why he came in so late.

Apparently, James and Noah had been friends for a long time and according to him, Noah came to him the day before the festival to ask him for help at assassinating Mr. Enzo. James thought that he had talked Noah out of it and that he would never do it alone, hence he felt no need to warn anybody. But it turns out James was wrong about that, which he followed up with an apology to Mr. Enzo.

Because if this, the magistrate was able to declare Noah was in the wrong. That Mr. Enzo was a victim, not a culprit and his maid had every right to defend her employer. The magistrate did suggest that the maid, as a former E class adventurer, could have defended Mr. Enzo without killing Noah and therefore had to perform community service. That being the clean up of the house Noah left behind.

Not everybody was happy with this verdict, but people were at ease that at least something had been done.

As for Kase, the magistrate said there are no laws against people having heated arguments, even fistfights, with each other. Hence why he cannot lay any punishment on Fabe. Kase **** me however was a step too far and him committing perjury was considered an even worse crime. Thus, the magistrate demanded Kase to both pay a fine and perform community service.

The next day, I learned that Kase had left back for Riledo and thus managed to escape his community service, leaving his father to pay his fine. Honestly, I’m just happy Kase is finally gone. I just hope he doesn’t end up hunting down Oliver to vent his issues with me on him. Or Mia, once she arrives in the capital. Come to think of it, there’s only less than a week left until she leaves.
