Ask to tour the basement.

"Show me," You reply, gesturing towards the basement door.

Anna's obviously uneasy as she leads you down the stairs into a large area filled with shelves and items stored for later use. To one side, you can see a laundry area. She leads you in that direction first, like she's trying to build the courage to show you the rest of it.

When the two of you reach the lab, you can see through a small glass window in the door that the room does fit the description of a lab fairly well. Lacking any way to enter, you allow Anna to lead you towards the other end of the basement where a heavy door dominates the wall. You try the handle, but the door is locked exactly as she said.

Wonder if my Great Uncle has the password for the lab written down somewhere, or maybe the key to the other room hidden away.

Momentarily distracted by your thoughts, you notice that Anna's expression has changed from discomfort to fear.

He really messed this girl up, didn't he.

You gesture towards the basement exit, "You were right, nothing down here to trouble myself with right now."
