Amber

Spencer decided that if no one was talking to Amber by the time he finished his surprisingly strong beer off, he'd bring her another cider and talk with her. Much to his surprise, no one had engaged her in a conversation by the time he'd emptied the bottle, so he walked over to her with two fresh drinks.

"Oh, hey Spence." She said.

"How's it going?" Spencer handed her a drink.

"Yeah good."

"Enjoying Avonwick so far?"

"More than I thought I would."

Spencer shot her a puzzled look. "Why's that?"

"Uhh... I grew up in a country town and I didn't really fit in."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Well that was then, and I left them all behind as soon as I could."

"So how's the tattoo shop going?"

"It's almost sorted. About another week."

"Cool. So what about Jazzy?"

"Oh, she's still looking around, but she'll find something."

"Well if she doesn't find something soon I might hire her to cook for me."

Amber shrugged. "I don't think she'd say no to it."

"Really?"

"Yeah. She likes you."

"Hang on. What do you mean by that?"

"Oh..." Amber let out a nervous chuckle. "We're both bi-sexual."

"Ah... right." Spencer chugged down the rest of his beer. "So what about you?"

"What?"

"Do you like me?"

"Well, yeah, I..."

With a combination of liquid courage and liquid impulsiveness swimming in his head, Spencer pulled Amber in, and for the first time in six years, kissed another woman's lips. If he was sober, he wouldn't be able to pinpoint what had set him off, but in that moment, embracing Amber just felt so right.

After the kiss, Amber looked into Spencer's eyes. "Whoa... Spencer."

"That good?"

With a smile, Amber nodded. "Come with me."

She then led Spencer upstairs, away from the guests and into her comfort zone.
