ANYTHING RUBY SAYS BECOMES TRUE. ANY ANSWER SHE GIVES BECOMES THE RIGHT ONE.

It had only been a short couple of hours and, by this time, Ruby had all but forgot all about the book, which was still stuffed into her school bag, ready for the next day. Out of sight and out of mind.

However, the magical effect that it had on Ruby was colossal and the girl had no clue: she wanted to boost her intellect and know all the correct answers, to improve her academic record; that was not the effect.

So long as those two entries remained in that book, any answer Ruby gave or statement that she made would become factually correct.

If Ruby said that the Grimm came from outer space and wanted to enslave humanity, that would be fact.

If someone asked Ruby where dust came from and she answered The God of Light’s dandruff, that would be the correct answer. That would always have been the correct answer and the world would adjust to suit it. Ruby herself probably wouldn’t think anything magical was happening; she’d probably think that she was just extremely smart or lucky.

Oblivious of all that, Ruby and the other girls of Team RWBY were all in the dorm, dressing down into their pajamas and getting ready for the night. Although Weiss was taking the opportunity to study a little bit more.

“Were you okay earlier, Rubes? You kind of seemed down-in-the-dumps, earlier,” asked Yang, noting her sister’s earlier mood and showing concern.

Ruby, ever the kind soul, didn’t want to make too much of a fuss and decided to give a reasonable reply.

“It was fine. I’m good,” she said.

Ruby was right, of course. She was vaguely aware of the moral-draining day she had and a little scuffle with Cardin and other stuff like that. Yet, it wasn’t too bad, and Ruby was all good now.

“That’s good. It worried me that you left halfway through class like that. I thought you may have been crying, because of what Cardin said to you earlier.”

“I wasn’t crying. I had to go to the bathroom and then I went to get something from the room which I forgot and... then Glynda stopped me in the hallway and-and -uh- said I got an A+ on my last combat class. Yeah.” Ruby stammered, clearly making up a story as she went.

Except, no, she wasn’t making up a story. Ruby was telling the truth. She had distinct memories of everything that happened.

She was very glad to have got that perfect grade from Glynda’s class. She was usually such a stickler for excellence; Ruby must have really impressed her. Especially since Ruby never got in trouble for roaming the halls when she should have been in class.

“Oh,” Yang said, bemused, “Sure.”

“Whatever,” Ruby responded, wanting to break out of this conversation.

Turning to the other teammates, Ruby decided to start up conversation with the one currently studying.

“Is that for Oobleck’s class, tomorrow, Weiss?” asked Ruby.

Weiss honestly seemed pleased to be asked. Usually, Ruby wasn’t one for academics and studying.

“I just want to make sure I’ve got the finest understanding. He likes to quiz us a lot, so I want to make sure that I’m prepared.”

Yang just yawned, “If you don’t know the answer, you don’t have to put your hand up, Weiss.”

“And look like an ignoramus. I’ll leave that to you, Yang.”

“Hey!”

Ruby jumped in, “Can you quiz me, Weiss? I want to make sure I don’t get sloppy on my history.”

Yang and Blake share a look, before Yang snorts and mutedly whispered to the cat girl, “Girl got a perfect grade in practical combat and now wants to go for perfect history too.”

Weiss seemed cheery at the thought.

“Oh, alright. That sounds good,” she said, getting her book and notebook and facing them away from Ruby.

“Only a few, before bed,” said Weiss, picking a few choice facts to question Ruby on.
