A mimic (treasure chest).

While many adventurers leap at the sight of a treasure chest, some beings have been created to take advantage of such carelessness. Who did it and why? Who knows, does it really matter.

What matters is this being, this majestic box, perfectly embodies … certain tastes (soft vore). Sure they aren’t known to be able to move much, but surely if there is a will, there can be a subjugated mind to serve in helping to relocate.

And it can taste! Sure, they can’t usually. But sometimes life finds a way.
