Chapter 6 by Nemo of Utopia Nemo of Utopia

*Who have you become?*

A human of the Redguard Ethnicity from Hammerfell, but you can't tell much more than that yet...

You don't know your name, and say as much. "I don't know; I must have hit my head back there, I can't remember basically anything..." Which is something of a lie, so you amend; "... about myself and my own past, I mean, I know that Titus Mede is emperor, and that the land is engulfed in civil-war, and that there was an invasion by the Thalmor of the Altemeri dominion which **** the Empire to ban the worship of Talos, but not too much else..."

The Captain narrows her eyes at you. "That's awfully convenient for someone with white-&-black-ink tattooing a skull across her face and eyes like curdled milk who still appears to be able to see just fine." She says suspiciously...

Wait, WHAT...? You've got some sort of necromancers tattoo across your entire FACE...?!? The FUCK...? (The woman part's not nearly as surprising, you can feel/see two large breasts on your chest, and the voice you talk with has some feminine qualities too; so...)

"Captain, I know that's rather suspicious, but look: she's not even on the list. The manifest indicates she's not supposed to be part of the prisoners at all since she was never added to it..." Halvor says.

"Forget that, she goes to the block like the rest, I'm not taking any chances with this one." The captain says.

"By your orders, Captain. I'm sorry, prisoner, there's nothing I can do. I'll at least make sure you are buried with proper ceremony on the other side of Dragons Watch pass into Hammer fell; I'm afraid I can't do any more than that." Halvor informs you sadly.

You walk to the block, and General Tullius starts in on his speech: "Ulfric, some here in Helgen call you a hero for fighting for your faith, and there's a grain of truth to that; but a hero doesn't **** his king with a power like The Voice, attempt to usurp his throne, Rise in rebellion against the Emperor, the Liege-Lord over the High-King, or pal-around with obvious necromancers like this woman over here." He says, jerking a thumb at you. The first roar of Alduin is heard now, in the distance, some people mutter and even Tullius pauses for a second or two. "You started this war, plunging Skyrim into Chaos, and now the Empire will PUT YOU DOWN in order to restore the PEACE!" Finishes after resuming speaking.

After that you let everything play-out similarly to how you had already known it would, but the discrepancies between the scripted events and what you just heard aren't lost on you: which means you have a lot of anxiety about when exactly Alduin is going to show up, as you're called-forward to be beheaded, the wind on your skin is icy as you approach the block and lay down, but, right-on-time Alduin crashes the party, and you roll aside to run, immediately.

Tripping and scrambling you get into the keep with Raylof and Ulfric. "That was a DRAGON, Ulfirc! Are the legends true then? Is this the end of the world...?!" Raylof pants, half-panicking. Ulfric's voice is much more steady and sure, calming everyone. "Legends don't burn villages and interrupt executions", he says, and pulls an arrow-point with the shaft broken-off between about two inches and four centimeters lower than, (but still attached to), the tip out of his belt-pouch. He holds it up. "See that drop of blood? That was an arrow they shot at the dragon, it got under one of it's scales and nicked the insides of the monster. It's not easy to hurt it by any means: obviously, it's a dragon: but the legends say our ancestors killed all the dragons; and if it bleeds, then it also can die. That means we just have to figure out how to kill it. It's one more item on our list of issues to solve for Skyrim's sake, nothing more. Head up through the tower now; we'll figure out how to get down to the ground from there, then how to get away, and after all that we'll have time to think about how to deal with that dragon."

You know the drill and rush up the tower but half-way-up, as always, Alduin smashes a hole in the wall and breathes fire into it; you're a little bit singed by the blast, but you feel a POWER enter your body alongside the flames, and a voice speaks in the back of your head: ~Awaken Chosen; bring my wayward son to Heel!~

~And THAT would be Akatosh...~ Your own thoughts say inside your mind.

"Jump!" somebody says behind you as Alduin leaves, and you hasten to oblige, leaping across the gap into the burning remains of the inn and rolling with the impact so effectively you roll clean into the hole in the floor beyond and land to roll again onto the floor below all purely by muscle-memory instead of conscious decision. Now you're in the middle of a building that's in the middle of burning down, and you do something that you always WISHED you could do in the game but it wasn't possible; leaping THROUGH one of the busted-out windows to escape the flames.

Out in the street, you find yourself in the same situation as always, Halvor getting the boy to safety, Alduin about to land and breathe fire on his father: you face a stark choice...

Will you: deviate from the script and try to save the boy's father from the dragon, maybe getting yourself killed in the process: follow-along with the tutorial as normal: OR go off-script totally and do something that is completely-weird-and-crazy?
