Chapter 7

What's next?
A dream encounter
I blinked as I looked around. I was in an old outfit I hadn't even worn since I was kid. Come to think of it...I was also shorter as well and...I was home...well I think I was. Wait...was I dreaming? I looked around noticing how fuzzy everything looked. The other buildings were...none existent only as colorful shapes haphazardly put together. Only two other building looked intact, her house and the hospital.
Wait...no that wasnt right. There were no hospitals on my street. Heck she didn't live there either.
"It's what I can I remember." Lilith spoke behind me. I turned around to meet her. Yet despite knowing it was her the visage of the Demon Goddess floating above still startled me.

"I suppose it will still take sometime for you to get use to this form." She noted as she landed beside me.
"Yeah." I answered. "I know I may have acted cool before but...I'm still reeling from that meeting." I informed.
"You and me both." Lilith answered.
"So...um first question...where are we?" I asked.
"You can think of this as a bridge between our dreams, a sort of mental refuge." She explained. "I initially tried to to build it based on my memories but as you can see...not much of my old life remains."
"How long have you been here?" I wondered aloud.
"Long enough," Lilith answered. "I'm sure you realized that well...you don't look the same."
"Well, I know for a fact that I outgrew this outfit a long time now." I chuckled.
"I was able to recreate you exactly as I remembered." She explained. "You're free to change yourself into a more ideal form but for the most part...this is what I remember you as." She explained.
"What about you?" I asked. Lilith seemed to stiffen. "Wouldn't it have been better if we matched?"
"I...can't really remember who I used to be." She explained as she raised up an arm. "I remember, I was weak. I remember I was sick but that's it. For the longest time the only me that I could visualize was....well...this." she gestured. "Are you....disappointed?"
"Well, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the old you." I told her. I could see a small frown form on her face so I quickly corrected myself. "That doesn't mean I don't accept the new you. Now we don't have to worry about what you eat or if you strain yourself doing anything too physical. Now we don't have to worry about you weezing because of dust. You've finally been able to grow up, strong and healthy."
"Yeah." Lilith smiled. "I guess I did." She took deep breath. She waved her arm at me. The next thing I knew I was covered in shadows before my body changed. I was back in my gear, aged up back into my current form. The sudden shift had me off balance and making me almost fall over, luckily Lilith caught me. "Sorry," she apologized.
"Just give me a littke warning next time, " I told her with a smile.

"So that's most of what happened," she explained as we rocked back on the bench. She gave me a brief run down about her existence as Lilith. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows but she survived.
"You always were a fighter." I commented.
"I hardly think it would count." Lilith sighed. "Back then I was pathetic and weak, a frail human who couldn't even walk properly much less fight." She spoke bitterly.
"Yet you never let that stopped you." I spoke up. "You always wanted to try new things, even if it was risky. You wanted to live. You were discontent with just laying in bed." I told her. "To me that was your own form of fighting and it inspired to keep going in numerous of my own personal battles." I added. "Sure, I didn't have to fight monsters that could phsyically kill me, but not all battles are physical, many were mental and emotional ones."
"I'm afraid thus life is gonna have a lot more physcial ones," she noted.
"Yeah...yeah I figured as much, that guild work ain't easy. Not to mention all the other stuff like fighting off bandits and well um...demons," I noted.
"Yes...I suppose that is problematic. The demons and humans don't particularly like each other very much. Hard not to see why though." Lilith sighed.
"Have you?" I questioned.
"Yeah, I have." Lilith answered. "I've killed and eaten my share of humans, some were hostile to me, some...not so much." She admitted. "Initially I felt guilt but...its the nature of this world and this body. I need to consume the essence of humans whether its physical stuff like their blood or... life ****. In the end its either I did or they die."
"But you don't...hate humanity?" I wondered.
"Hmm...no....I dont think I do." She admitted. "It's like being a farmer in a sense. You dont hate the pig or the cow, but should the need arise, you would still kill them for food, even if you cared for them before." Lilith noted. "That's just me though. Other demons...though are like hunters who kill for sport or are just angry that humans don't roll over for us."
"The were pup from before?" I recalled. "Would he have?"
"He would have subdued you." Lilith explained. "He is one who hunts to survive and for the most part he's smart enough to know not to be greedy. He's smart enough to know not to take the food of others. That said...if I had brought you back to camp."
"Trouble."
"Yup." She answered. "My little sister would have wanted a bite."
"You have a sister?" I asked.
"In this life, yes. She's just the cutest little thing." She gushed. "When she's not eatening humans, of course." She added. "Well...she's still kind of cute. Oh god....how am I going to explain you to her?"
"Let's...figure that out later." I told her.
What do you next?

That Time I Conquered the Demon God!
Slow burn! After being reincarnated as a broke, low-level adventurer, you discover that someone from your past life was reborn as an absurdly overpowered demon god. But they aren't the only source of your headaches...
**Customizable!** After shoving someone out of the path of a speeding truck, you wake up in a full-blown fantasy world! But instead of becoming the chosen one or gaining cheat powers, you end up as a broke, low-leveled adventurer barely scraping by. You're probably wondering if you at least got miraculously recruited into an S-rank party. Nope, not that kind of isekai buddy. Instead, you've got a band of equally useless misfits in tow, including a ditzy divine "helper" who seems equipped to erode your sanity and not much else. The kicker? Someone from your old life got reincarnated too, except they gacha rolled an all-powerful demon god. Now they're hopelessly obsessed and willing to do anything to be with you, even if that means using their ancient cursed magic to hijack your companions' bodies to prove it. As an added bonus—and additional source of heartburn—your ditzy companion goddess decides that counter-possessing them is the only way to "protect" you and your "purity." As armies march and kingdoms brace for the potential of total annihilation, you're just focused on not dying in a ditch. Well, that and convincing a demon god that wiping out human civilization might be bad for your relationship. Warning, this is a slow burn!
