A Tunnel of Love

Ella turned around and saw a man. He seemed to be a staff member and was operating what seemed to be a gentle ride. Ella noticed the countless flashing red hearts around the entrance to the ride. One of the cars just drove through a door, which then closed behind them again. It seemed to be some sort of Tunnel of Love, she realized.

"Thanks," Ella said with a smile. "I would love to ride but it seems you need to be a pair."

"Oh yes," the man said. "The Tunnel of Love requires all cars to be seated with two persons." Ella just wanted to turn around and walk away. "But of course the Park of Pleasure also wants its single visitors to enjoy all rides. So there is a single rider line where people can fill up empty spots."

"You mean?" Ella said and noted a group of persons waiting beside the regular queue.

"Exactly. Now, get into the next car if you want and we get you a partner for the ride."

Ella looked a bit surprised and for a moment she hesitated but then she thought about it more. What could go wrong? In the end, this was a park to have fun and the ride looked really neat. The ride operator opened a little door to let her past the queue. For a moment she worried someone seems to complain that she was skipping ahead, but that didn't happen.

Finally she sat down and looked towards a fun ride. But who would join her? Her look went over to the single riders waiting and she could see men from her age to her dad's age. She realized that she hadn't thought this through fully. But on the other hand, she felt that it would be fun regardless of who the man was who would be joining her for the ride.
