*Dawn Of War: Game Of The Year Edition. *

This is the remastered version of the game that started it all: The Whole Dawn Of War franchise. Mostly the only difference from the original content was a few bugfixes and some minor tweaking of timers and upgrade costs, but the core mechanisms remained the same. No new units were introduced, no new armies or factions, it remains almost entirely identical to its first release.

The campaign in this game centers on the Blood Ravens, a chapter of Space Marines: the genetically engineered super-soldiers of the galaxy-spanning Imperium Of Man. They respond to a distress call from an Imperial world under siege by Orks, the techno-primitive fungus-based savages that can emerge from the void to attack worlds without warning or reason. It soon becomes apparent that the situation is more complicated than a mere Ork attack, as both the enigmatic Eldar and hideous forces of the Chaos-Gods get involved: unless the Blood Ravens act quickly and decisively the fate of not only one world or even system, but an entire Imperial Sector could be in jeopardy...

(Oh, and the Imperial Inquisition and Imperial Guard get some teaser appearances as allied units under your control in a couple of missions, though they won't become fully playable armies until later expansion packs... Speaking of which, it is this author's opinion that the way the Imperial Guard are handled in THIS game is more true to the tabletop miniatures wargame Dawn Of War is based on* than how they are handled in Winter **** and later expansions when they become a fully playable army. Guardsmen are not supposed to be able to face down Space Marines on a 1-1 basis, no matter what kind of situational advantages they may have, and in this game, they can't: but that's why they come in units with a max size of 30 vs the Space Marines max unit size of 10...)
