* Monster Tamers *

Ah yes, the "Monster Tamer". Though this genre is an old one and fairly diverse there is no more popular series in it than "Pokémon". With toys, TV shows, card games, apparel, and even a theme park the Pokémon franchise is the undisputed and undisguised grand champion of the Monster Tamer games market. A cultural phenomenon which spans continents, cultures, genders, and generations one could hardly mention the Monster Tamer genre without Pokémon being brought up as a touchstone.

However, Pokémon is FAR from the only Monster Tamer RPG. Series such as Monster Rancher, Dragon-Quest Monsters, Fossil Fighter, Tomogotchi and much more besides have been popular with both youth and adults.

That said, of course, Pokémon is the 5-ton "Donphan" in the room whenever monster tamer games are discussed. With over 80 games and related titles, a series of TV shows and movies which has been in production for more than a decade, and accomplishments including helping discover new details about such important things as Seizure Disorders, **** Cases, and Cross-Cultural Connectivity: Pokémon is quite possibly the biggest game franchise in all of history.

Don't believe me? Just use CHYOA's search function and type in Pokemon: if there is THAT MUCH content on a site as, (let's be honest here,) obscure as this, imagine how much there is out there in total, and how big that means the whole franchise is...

But, just because Pokémon is the big name, doesn't necessarily mean that's what you want to play...
