Gon had grinded up his Archery skill up to level 4 so far, but that wasn't good enough.

When he first came here two days ago, Stealth was merely level 3 the same as Archery, mostly at such a low level at his age because he had to hide his training.

But in the [Scorched savanna] it had burst forth with great heart and leveled up 3 times in the course of less than 48 hours, while Archery had only done so once.

Kind of a disappointment to its heritage if you asked Gon.

It even brought shame to his name!

So he really, really had to level it up.

Having returned to his little camp next to a tree, he started preparing what he needed to train.

A bit off in the distance, he set up a simple stake an put the skull of one of the small rodent carcasses he had scavenged yesterday, and returned with crude arrows at the ready.

He readied both his hands and feet, calmed his breath, and pulled back his arrow. Waiting for the air to still across the distance between him and the target for only a moment, he suddenly released, letting his primal and disposable creation fly through the air.

And missed completely.

...He would have to train a lot until he got Archery to level up, since he wasn't using live targets.

He started up the campfire while constantly looking around him in fear of some predator stalking up and stealing his food, and continued to practice.

...Practice wasn't going swell, but he was getting better.

He enjoyed the cooked meat and slept in the tree, returning to his Archery training since his game had left more meat than he could eat in only a single day.

Another day passed, with him shooting a dumb reptile that had entered his sights in the calf, scaring it away and instantly increasing his Archery level to level 5.

...But a notification about killing the beast never came.

Gon was enlightened to the path he had to tread, took up his hunting gear- All of which had been replaced with Level 3 Crafting approved gear- And set off to the horizon.

Stalking through the tall grass, and carefully making sure to never be completely revealed no matter the situation, he hid like a coward and searched for any beasts in the distance.

Whenever he found one, he readied his shot, and fired.

Sometimes he missed, sometimes he hit, he actually killed one once, and another time the arrow literally broke before piercing his target's skin.

It was kind of funny seeing the primal creatures confusedly running from or searching for him, while he was originally 40 meters away and had already started to distance himself.

Raising his Archery rapidly in only a single day, getting it equal to the previous level of Stealth, which itself had leveled up again.

Hearing the 'Caw' of a bird as he returned to home base, he saw an annoying little crow sitting on the remains of his campfire.

Almost out of habit, he raised his bow and aimed, waiting silently.

Before the perfect moment came, the bird took flight. But his aim only shifted, leading its movement as it come to cross over him in the sky; And he shot.

It seemed that suddenly slaying a fast and small foe that suddenly appeared after it took to the sky with a single shot of the bow got a thumbs up from whatever decided what leveled up his general skills.

Skills in the double digits at level 1 were... Rare, extremely rare. The chance that he even got Archery up to level 9 before he accidentally leveled up was extremely improbable.

It being at level 7 was already extremely good, even if he reached level 10 to 20. General skills never really grew much beyond level 5, either he was super talented, or he was getting a bonus since he was messing with situations way beyond his league as a level 1...
