Chapter 6 by Nemo of Utopia Nemo of Utopia

* Answer The Questions Above... *

* Temperate Forest Ravine, Way Too Many Things To List, & Differently. * (See Below For Explantions.) * (Seed: 345220012) *

You know that the first few minutes of a game of Minecraft are key. You look about yourself and see that you are at the bottom of a small gorge, steep sides all but cutting off the sunlight from the breaking dawn in the East...

However you are in luck! As you turn the other way you find that you are plentifully supplied with trees to harvest for wood. Earlier you noticed both stone and a seem of coal at the top of the ravine, so it shouldn't be any trouble surviving the first few days.

You waste no time: soon night will fall, and you must have a shelter ready before that happens! You run up to one of the trees and punch it! You get a bruised set of knuckles and aching wrist for your trouble: only some primitive instinct telling you that punching a tree full **** would be foolish saving you from breaking your hand...

It is only now that you realize that while everything else is rendered in the **** quality art pack, YOU are even more realistic. In fact, you look like something out of a early 2000's cut-scene or Pixar movie. You are almost disturbingly lifelike: yet still clearly digital, many thousands of polygons being incorporated into a bio-rendered digital reproduction of your own body.Apparently, this also means you can't harvest trees with your bare hands.

You almost give in to despair then, but realize, (you were so excited/frightened that you were unaware of it till this moment,) that you are wearing a heavy, awkward and clanking backpack. You pull it off and examine the contents: then, overcome with emotion, begin to sob in relief!

Inside is a wealth of steel tools: an axe, a hoe, a shovel, a pick/mattock, two saws, planeing blocks, an awl... You keep digging. Out comes a hand drill with drill-bits, wood carving chisels, a set of hammers, stone chisels, tongs, five crucibles of various sizes... Christmas has come early! Under those are a cast-iron cooking set: five nested frying pans, three pots, and a small cauldron; along with wooden and steel cooking utensils...

It is at this point that you realize that all this could never fit in this backpack. It also should weigh so much that it would have toppled you over backwards. Not only that but there's still more stuff in it and as you heft it, it feels the same as when you took it off...?

On a hunch you grab the axe and toss it back in. You then pile some of the other items in on top of it. Reaching blindly you concentrate on the image of the long handled, double edged woodsman's axe, and are only mildly surprised that it is the first thing you touch.

"So, I have a 'Heward's Handy Haversack'..." you think out loud, knowing yourself to be alone. Meanwhile you lay the axe aside and start piling everything else back in. There will be time enough to take inventory tonight while the monsters prowl; now, you need to get working on harvesting resources! This little exploration of your pack's contents has taken about five minutes and the days, are only; ten minutes long...?

The sun hasn't changed position at all while you were digging in the Pack, or at least not noticeably. You are reassured by that, yet also worried: if the days here are as long as on Earth then that means the nights probably are as well, which in turn means that you are going to have a very hard time staying awake during your first night...

What Do You Go After First: Coal, Wood, Stone, Apples, Or Wool?
