The vast majority of people fall almost completely and utterly within the average.
Maybe they're notably more intelligent, or stronger than the average, getting outside the standard deviation or two that most of the population lies within.
So, what happens if after - or, perhaps, during - , someone found out they were actually exceptional? And, even better, got a second chance?
<[(I'm not including it as a primary tag because the usual (sexual/fetishistic) connotations don't apply, but there will be 'gender-bender' in this story, that being actual transgender/transsexual characters who undergo physical transition, both MtF and FtM. The main character does not, and is male throughout the entire story. Along with that, there's some general exploration of sex and gender and sexuality - I approach that sort of thing with an eye to realism in general. If you don't like that, don't read.
