The beginning

Chapter 1 by Tenns Tenns

Waking up from the craziest dream about warlords and evil fairies, Kyle slowly opens his eyes to see his popcorn roof and ceiling fan. Slowly, but surely, he begins to make his way out of bed to get ready for school. Standing at an even 6 feet, Kyle makes his way over to his mirror to check himself out. Kyle was content with his body. He wasn’t fat nor was he skinny. He didn’t have abs but he didn’t have a fat gut either. With medium length black curly hair chopped to a fade, Kyle was what people would call average. Brushing his teeth and getting dressed, he makes his way downstairs to see his family all together eating breakfast. They all sat at the square table with his parents facing opposite of each other and his older sister sitting nearest to the wall.

“Hey honey, I sat your plate in the microwave since I didn’t know how long you’ll be” said his mother. His mom was looking great for a near middle aged woman. With clear skin and a healthy body, anybody could believe she was still in her late twenties or early thirties.

“Morning everyone, I see y’all started without me” Kyle joked. He knew they would as he gets up the latest out of everyone so he wouldn’t expect them to wait. He is just grateful that they still fixed him a plate.

“Don’t take all day to eat. We still need to catch the bus BEFORE 7:30” his sister spoke out. Checking his phone he sees it 7:05 and makes his way to the table to eat. Ruby was his sister’s name like her name says, she is a gem. Everyone likes her for her down to Earth personality and her beaming smile. She is 19 years old, 1 year older than Kyle, but she failed 12th grade last year due to her stupidity so now she has to take it again with her brother this time.

“Ruby, we are not going to have a repeat of last year. Me and your mother was talking about we decided no parties or get togethers on the weekdays/Sunday. When your grades are steady then we can talk about releasing your holds. Fridays and Saturdays are still your days to have fun so don’t think we are holding you captive” Kyle’s father explained. Ruby thought about what her father had said and ended up not arguing against him. She knew it’s her own fault for being in this situation and as long as she was free on the weekends she was okay with it.

Kyle’s phone chimed and he saw it was a text from his friend Nyah. Kyle and Nyah have been friends since 6th grade and have been through a lot together. Nyah was mixed with Black and Asian and stood at 5’5. She was smart, charming, and sometimes cunning. She stayed next door to Kyle’s family. Her personality mixed with Kyle’s made the duo inseparable.

Hey don’t be late! We are one of the first stops on the bus so we need to pick good seats!

Kyle finishes his food, kisses his mom’s forehead, pats his dad on the back and makes his way to the front waiting on his sister. Luckily the bus stop is only down the street so if he is ever late it is his own fault

“Ruby I’m waiting for you! We got about 10 minutes but we still need to see how early they come for future notice!”

“Ight give me a sec!”

Ruby finishes up her womanly duties and meets Kyle at the door. They both say goodbye to their parents and they head out
