After turning over in bed for what feels like the hundredth time, you finally give up on falling back asleep. It would have been nice to be a little more rested for such a big day, but it's really no surprise that you're too excited to sleep. After all, you've been waiting for this day for as long as you can remember. In just a few hours, you'll be getting your first pokémon.

It hasn't been easy. The licensure exams to become a registered trainer are notoriously difficult, especially the ones for the Region Wide Battle Class License that let a trainer travel the country and battle at all levels. You've been taking extra lessons on pokémon, wilderness survival, and League rules since middle school.

All of that training paid off though, when you were invited to attend the prestigious League Preparatory Program headed by Professor Oak after graduating high school. It meant putting off leaving on your journey for a year, but it was more than worth it. Only those the League rated as having high potential were invited, and every student that managed to graduate was granted free meals and lodging at any pokémon center, as well as free entry into tournaments and other League events, for three years. In addition, the top three students were given a rare pokémon to start their journey with.

Through a combination of hard work, talent, and luck; you managed to be one of those three. Today is the day that all your hard work finally pays off. Your graduation is at ten o' clock, and after that you'll finally leave Pallet Town and start out on your journey.
