The Tablet

You jerk awake from a hot sweat, your head leaving the soaked pillow beneath you. You had just woke from a strange dream that you couldn’t remember. This was strange considering that it JUST happened, but you managed to recall bits and pieces of it.

Something about control, and changing... and sex too. The sex part is the thing you recall the most actually. Weird perverted brain.

Shaking the thoughts out of your head you look over to see something on the nightstand. It’s a tablet. A strange looking one too, with no volume, home or power buttons. Also no headphone jack or charger port. Really the only way you could identify this as a tablet was the screen.

“The fuck is this thing doing here?”

You pick the tablet up, and as soon as it’s up to your face a voice comes out.

[Thank you for activating me! I am a prerecorded message that will explain how this tablet works.]

A bit weirded out, you just remain silent as the voice continues speaking.

[You may have noticed there’s no charger port or power button. Don’t worry, that’s by design. To turn on the tablet, you need only say “Tablet on”. It also runs on a magic battery, so you’ll never run out of charge.]

“Pfft, magic battery? What does this thing take me for?”

[You probably think I’m pulling your leg, but I’m not. You’ll see. Anyway, there three apps on this tablet. Open one of them and I’ll explain it’s function.]

You look at the apps and see three different icons. One of them is an arrow line going from planet to another. Another one with a blank character model doing a t-pose in front of a white background, and a the last one had the same model but the background was black.

You tapped on the black background app first.

You are greeted with a search bar at the top with empty space beneath it.

[Thank you for choosing the customization app! This app allows you to customize yourself and others in anyway you see fit! Wanna make your annoying boss more forgiving? Wanna change your height? Wanna change your genes so you can become a super-powered mutant? You can do all that and more with the customization app!]

“Huh, if this is real then that’s pretty cool actually.”

Next you tap on the white background app.

This one has the same format as the last one, search bar with empty space.

[Thank you for choosing the summoning app! With this app, you can pull whoever you want from anywhere to your location. And I mean anywhere. Your neighbor down the street, to some alien in a seperate dimension, or even a fictitious character! Just type their name into the search bar, and you choose the right one that pops up. Be warned though, not everyone you select is going to appreciate being pulled around.]

“Ooh, cool. I could see myself having fun with this.”

And finally you tap on the app with the planets. And once again, same format as the other two apps.

[Thank you for choosing the transportation app! This app allows you to travel to other locations with just a few taps. You can travel to anywhere on the planet, travel to another planet, or to other universes and realities, even the worlds of fiction!]

“Sick! I could go anywhere I want without having to fucking drive.”

[I have now explained the functions of this tablet to you. Now I will self delete and leave you to your new product. Thank you, and goodbye.]

Finally, the voice turned off, leaving you in excited silence on your bed.

“Okay, if this thing is actually real and not an elaborate prank, I’m going to have to a of fun with this.”
