The Maids of Gavane

In the year 1241, a rather surprising decree from the King made it's way through Gavane's lands. The decree stated that prostitution, along with various other acts of debauchery, was not only legal, but an acceptable form of community service for criminal offenses. Although there was quite the ruckus about the decree, it had some notable early adopters. Men and Women wishing for a "conqueror" often committed small misdemeanors, picking the week-long service in the naked stocks over the two penny fee. More famously, brothels began to spring up; euphemistically, they were referred to as "Maid Houses".

Now it is the year 1321 of our lord, and these decrees have shaped the culture of Gavane. Making it into the hub for snooty old merchants and young travelers alike. The royal family still stands strong, except for the occasional recreational kneel. What will be written in the halls of archives lies in your hands only.
