What she sees is what you get.

Chapter 1 by dikmin dikmin

"It was a dark and horny night."

No, that wouldn't work. Even as meta-humor it was lame and .

Penny looked out the window as she held down the backspace key. The night did seem unusually dark. Why did the night seem darker? Did Penny have such bad writer's block that she was talking to herself about the weather instead of starting her fanfic?

Oh!

One thing was for sure, the night was about to get horny. The clock on the laptop said 12:02, which meant Penny had been a legal adult for two whole minutes without noticing it. It also meant that the porn filter should be gone. It meant that Penny was free to do something with her urges in this bullshit, controlling, condescending--

The laptop screen went black, and white text appeared a moment later: "Cancel your plans and check on your dad. You will quickly understand why you are seeing this."

Fuck. Penny clenched her fist but she also looked rapidly around her room, unsure if she should be scared or angry. She threw on a bathrobe, closed her laptop and walked quickly down the stairs. Her father was facing away on the couch, hunched over, but he turned to face her when he heard her footsteps--crying.

Penny had never seen her father cry. He was cold and distant, like everyone else in Rogers. In Ohio. In America?

Well, the whole world was shit. But right now was a bad time to think about it.

"Dad, what the hell is--um, I, did I do something?" Penny's voice changed from confused to fearful when she realized her dad was crying tears of rage. She crossed her arms tightly and took a half-step back.

"You did not." An unfamiliar voice came from an unfamiliar face, speaking from the TV that had been turned off moments ago. Penny and her father both jumped a bit as the speaker commanded them, "Sit down and listen. I have infinite patience, but you two do not have much time."

Who is the mysterious speaker?
