[ Character Notes ]

Central Characters

• Catherine Ellen Zhang SLL2m: The viewpoint character. Default nickname "Penny." She named herself after the coins in an attempt to be edgy. This nickname can be changed. At the start of the story she is introverted and private, but not really shy. She has an athletic build, mostly maintained by playing basketball--her only offline social activity. She is never called "SLL2m" in public because this would expose her as a "Designed Human."
• SubR KC: An AI who "removes" dangerous children when they turn 18 (in any way it chooses). This is less threatening than it sounds because the AI has extensive safety precautions holding it back, but the AI has done some horrible things. Penny calls it "Emma" after a child in a horror movie. Its name can be changed.
• SubR AP: An AI who prevents children from being spied on and also prevents children from viewing adult content online. It is the most powerful AI in the world because it is easy to pass budget bills to upgrade it, and because nobody seems concerned about restraining it.

Supporting Characters

• Zhiwei Martin Zhang: Penny's father. He hasn't been much of a parent since the divorce. He is an engineer at Sinonetics and he cares about his job above all else. He does not feel sexual impulses toward his daughter on his own, but he is extremely **** to her powers.
• Tiger, T-Rex, Mammoth, Dragon: The gamer names for four boys who participate in esports in Penny's high school. They are in 10th grade at the start of the story and Penny knows them from her Philosophy class. They usually serve as friends for the main character when she needs someone who isn't on the basketball team.
• Tammy, Tamira, Alma, Rhonda, Shantel R., Cleo, Lanelle, Isabella, Shantel B., Laura: The main character's basketball team, from oldest to youngest. At the start of the story, they are the main character's only offline friends. Most of them are seniors (12th grade). The adults are Tammy, Tamira, Alma, Rhonda, and of course the main character. Shantel R. will turn 18 in April, but Cleo not until June.
• Mr. Travers: A creepy 56-year-old man who lives in the house behind the main character. He is single, lonely, and a pedophile. He's only a threat to the main character when influenced by her powers. He is Penny's connection to the city's black market, if she needs one, so he might indirectly be a source of danger.
• Patricia: [To be updated.] An unfortunate young woman whose brother, Paul, has dangerous friends.

Minor Side Characters

• Isidro: One of several boys who the main character is attracted to in her high school. They haven't interacted much.
• Virginia Tessa Aaberg: Penny's mother. She lost custody of Penny because of a **** habit, but she has since recovered from it. She still doesn't contact Penny very often.
