Neon and Nekos

Something feels... off. A thick, heavy blanket of fog envelops the area, making it impossible to even see across the street. Luckily, it's a Saturday, which means you don't have work, and you don't have any plans for today, and so you're happy to stay inside for the day.

Your life is not the most fulfilling. You work at a dull job that pays just enough to let you continue to live in your apartment, pay the bills, and splurge on entertainment here and there. As for relationships, you're not a man who would be missed by many - you have family, of course, you're acquaintances with your coworkers, you have a bit of an online presence, and you've had a couple of romantic flings, but they never amounted to much. You're too busy with your own life to get involved with others'.

That's why you're a bit surprised when you hear a knock at the door. You don't remember ordering anything online. Maybe you'd just forgot. In that case, the delivery man'll leave soon, and you can get the package later. But then the knock comes again. Maybe whoever's at the door is there for you. If that's the case, you should answer it.

You get up from the couch, and open the door. In front of you stands a man. There's something about him that makes it hard to figure out any details about him - it's almost like his features were unfinished in a way. But for whatever reason, it doesn't register in your mind as uncanny in any way.

"You are Mr. Doe, correct?" he asks.

You nod.

"Excellent. Now, would you say that you are satisfied with the quality of your life?"

You think about what to say for a second, but you already know the answer. "No."

"In that case, I would like to make you an offer. I can change your life with a snap of my fingers. Yes or no."

That's not what you were expecting. You stammer.

"I want you to be bold about this, Mr. Doe," he says. "No talk - just a decision."
