Chapter 2

What do you say?
No
This guy must be insane!
"No!" you exclaim.
The man simply says, "Very well," and turns down the hallway, walking away. You look out the doorframe, but he is already gone, almost as if he had vanished into thin air. Huh. Odd.
Dismissing the event, you close your door, and go back to the couch. Just another normal Saturday.
After a few hours, you've forgotten about the whole event. Looking outside the window, it looks like the fog has cleared up, and now it's just cloudy out.
What follows is another normal week - you drag yourself through your job, coming home too exhausted to do much. On Friday, you go to the bar with some of your coworkers. It's a good time, but the beer doesn't seem as good as it used to be.
The next day is another Saturday, and the fog is back. You don't take much notice of it. The man doesn't come back, and by now you've long forgotten about him. Once again, after several hours the fog dissipates.
A few days later, you turn on the TV and by circumstance happen to catch some news about a missing person. You want to flip channels, but the way they describe him... he sounds a lot like you. Not many friends, not much family. Even the physical description just about matches up. He'd been reported missing by one of his coworkers. Apparently, he wasn't one to miss work often. Neither are you. According to the report, the last confirmed sighting of him was on Saturday. It seemed like the man had just vanished from his apartment.
It is then that you remember the man who came to your door. The program says that the police are a bit baffled by the case, and that they're asking for any kind of lead they can get. And so you call the number that shows up. Unfortunately, it doesn't result in much - after all, there weren't many noticeable features of the man, so he was hard to describe. You put the phone down and move on with your day.
Eventually, you forget about the man again, and nothing else comes up to jog your memory.
Life continues.
