Monster Tamer

This is a story set in a typical fantasy novel or JRPG. Most people in this world receive a blessing that determine their main class during their coming of age at 15 years old. This main class cannot be changed, so if one were to get an undesirable class or worse, class-less, then they're out of luck. However, people are free to choose and develop their own sub class.

Monster Tamer is a job where the receiver make pacts with monsters. These pacts can take many forms - sometimes it's a mutually benefitting relationship where both the tamer and the tamed respect each other and work together. Other times it is more akin to enslavement, with the monster being to obey the tamer's commands. In any case, the method, terms, and amount of pacts vary from person to person. Some Tamers can have multiple pacts with different monsters at once, while others are limited to a single contract at a time.

Monster Tamer is not a very popular job class since it is difficult to tame monsters in general. Most Monster Tamers settle to tame weak monsters since a Monster Tamer usually doesn't have the ability to take down and tame strong monsters. Due to this, there are rarely any successful Monster Tamer.

You, an adventurer with Monster Tamer as their main class, is one such unlucky individual. At first you cursed your luck (or lack thereof), but after years of adventuring you've learned to make do with what you have. Your adventurer rank is (fairly) low, but you do (most) of your jobs well with the help of your tamed monster. However, after certain turn of events, your luck might just turn for the better. Or perhaps it was actually for the worse, only time would tell.

Now, before we begin, pick one of these two to represent you in this story:

Alan, 28 years old, Warrior sub-class
Alan was an orphan and a former street urchin. He used to steal food to feed himself, and sometimes getting beat up for it. This continued until a kind old couple took him in as long as he helped around in their small store. As he grew older, Alan noticed that he was fairly strong and resilient for a kid his age despite not exercising much. He started dreaming of becoming an adventurer with a strong class that he would receive during his coming of age, only for it being the infamously weak Monster Tamer.
Alan gave up being an adventurer and just continued helping the old couple. Unfortunately, they died one after another when Alan was around 20 years old. Since he didn't know how to run their business well, he was to sell it and resumed his training to become an adventurer. Thanks to his naturally superb physical stats, he managed to be a somewhat decent adventurer despite not having a single tamed monster. Only after a year later he managed to beat a hobgoblin into submission and the monster to form a pact with him.
Alan was rather selfish and rarely shows compassion towards others. He only cared for the people who he thought was important to him, and after the old couple died it basically turned to zero. This made him unpopular among the adventurers, and they rarely wanted to talk with him, let alone forming a party. Consequently, his adventurer rank barely raised even after he had been an adventurer for years.
Alan spent most of his free time training, either on his own or with his tamed monster. Beneath his leather armor, Alan got quite a muscular body and a rather handsome face to complement it. He would have been quite popular with the ladies if only he wasn't so cold towards them.

Alexis, 19 years old, Ranger sub-class
Alexis grew up as an outdoorsy child, exploring nature and learning new skills from her parents, mostly her father. He taught her nearly everything she knows about the wilderness. She also has been trained on how to wield a bow since childhood. This eventually led to her becoming interested in animals. She loves spending time with them, caring for them, and observing their behavior.
When Alexis got Monster Tamer as her main class, she was not very thrilled, hoping to get a Ranger like her father did. But soon she went over it and found out that it suited her well. Less than a week after she got her blessing, she already tamed a Grey Wolf she called Pochi. Alexis raised Pochi after she found a wolf litter abandoned in the forest one year before. It was easy for them to form a pact, as they had bonded beforehand. Alexis was delighted when she found out she could understand Pochi better thanks to her Monster Tamer skills.
Alexis was gentle and kind, in addition to being friendly. Ever since she became a Monster Tamer, that kindness often encompassed monsters too, as long as they were not hurting people. Alexis became a registered adventurer when she was 18, after her father finally let her. Even though Alexis was quite sociable, her class made her rarely be asked to join a party. However, she didn't feel lonely since Pochi always had her back.
Alexis liked reading as well as taking a stroll as her favourite leisure activity. Her light clothing did nothing to hide her slim figure nor her rather sizeable breasts. Alexis never paid much attention to the attempts of boys her age trying to woo her, too busy to take care of her animal friends.
