Gregory is a country boy. He is from a poor country farmer family in his village, and he is the middle child of the family. All the men from his family, his father, uncle, siblings even his grandfather went to serve the king's army during the kingdom's war.

During this time he worked as a servant and also a student of an old mysterious nobleman, who taught him to read which made him the only person in his entire family who can read and write. During the years of war, he spent his time serving the old nobleman and reading as many books as possible in his collection.

By Reading the books he learned about the history of the kingdom and the royal family, and he tried to get as much knowledge as possible from the old man.

The war ended as the kingdom concerned major parts of Europe. But when the war was finished and his siblings returned back to the home, he has thrown out of the house, as he was considered a disappointment to the family.

He spent some days at the old man's house Until one day the old man got visited by his friend, she is also an old woman who seems older than the old man. She was traveling to the kingdom's capital but because of her age, she needed a young person like Gregory to deliver a parcel for her. She gave an offer to Gregory to deliver her parcel in exchange for some bronze coins.

Even though the payment was too low he decided to accept her offer as he thought he may find a better opportunity in the capital. He has heard that a royal celebration is going to happen in the capital for the king's victory in the war. He thought he might get some work opportunity in that.

The old man suggested not to go to the capital, he told that the peoples in the capital are not good people. but Gregory still wants to go there, because there is nothing left for him in the village

Gregory started his journey to the capital with the parcel, it was a strange small pocketable wooden box with strange markings and a seal on it. He was strictly instructed not to break the seal under any circumstances. And when he asked about the box's contents, she told him that she doesn't know what was inside, it was for the capital's royal mage, and she was tasked to safeguard it while the war was going on. And now it's time to return it to the mage as the war is finished and she also became too old to safeguard it.

During the journey, Gregory kept his words to not open the box and kept it safe, but whenever he touched the box, some strange sensation he feels, which tempts him to open the box to see inside, but he resisted it. After a few days, he reached the capital. The capital is a huge city, surrounded by protection walls with lots of guards.
