King's Game
Creation From Zero
Chapter 1 by WinstonSmith
It is the year 2025.
Ten years have passed since the Zero Virus destabilized the world order. Economies collapsed; governments fell; and the social mores which guided human interactions were either forgotten or ignored.
Rumors circulate that around 98% of the human population died as a result of the Virus and its consequences. What is up for debate, in hindsight, is whether the Virus killed most of the 98% or if starvation, disease, or killed most of the 98%.
The humans that are still living have become immune to the Virus. They have taken to living in small groups for survival, either as a member of a village or a nomadic tribe.
You are the leader of one of these groups. It is your mission to make sure that your members survive, prosper, and bestow a social structure for your descendants to flourish. How you accomplish this is entirely to your discretion. Democracy died with the Virus.
Author's Note: This story receives inspiration from Sid Meier's Civilization V. That is, this story shares a lot of mechanics that you would find in a city-building game. I plan to incorporate a technology tree, political system, and, most excitingly, the setting for our story will progress into thousands of years into the future (similar to the mechanics in Civ V). This story will undoubtedly be one of my more ambitious works. That is why I will only continue with it if I feel like there is a lot of interest for it. So, if you really enjoyed a chapter, then don't forget to like or comment on it. Also, add this story to your favorites! :)
